Based on DC Comics characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, Krypton is set two generations before the destruction of the legendary Man of Steel’s home planet. It follows Superman’s grandfather — whose House of El was ostracized and shamed — as he fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos.
"It takes place 200 years before Man of Steel," Goyer said at the junket. "We're treating Krypton like it's a historical piece," which is something it shares with the TV show he was there to directly promote. "We look to previous cultures on Earth to model what that would be like."
"We scratched the surface in the film and, for me, that was the allure," he said. "I was always fascinated, as a kid, with the books about Krypton and they’ve only shaded in a tiny bit, so we’ll learn about the politics of the world. We’ll learn about the culture, the art, all the different guilds."
That means looking at the capitol city, Kryptopolis, but also "a lot of different locations... some of the other moons, which is kind of cool," he teased. In the comics, Krypton has had as many as three moons, Wegthor, Mithen, and Xenon.
As for other cities, Argo City and Kandor would be the other two big named metropolises, but Goyer wouldn't call them by name just yet. Argo City is where Supergirl's Kara Zor-El was born and raised, and Kandor was famously shrunken and bottled by Superman villain Brainiac.
(Before anyone comments on it, 99.999999% Goyer didn't mean it takes place in the continuity of the DCEU movies.)
David S. Goyer (Man of Steel, Batman V Superman) and Ian Goldberg (Once Upon a Time) developed the project and wrote the pilot's script. Damian Kindler (Sanctuary's creator and writer, also writer on Sleepy Hollow, Stargate: Atlantis and SG-1) has been selected as showrunner. Colm McCarthy (Peaky Blinders) will direct the pilot.
Goyer is also executive producing.

I haven't watched Gotham yet, but this sounds more like Caprica rather than what I think Gotham is like. (I intend to watch it once this season's Arrowverse shows end).
And Caprica didn't work.

well... i mean.. the ONLY way its possible to make superman interesting is if you set a story about him before he even exists.. so, conceptually its sound...
I could be good. I will reserve my judgement until its out.
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."
