Played the introductory mission. Seems okay so far. My biggest worry was the camera/controls, but it's surprisingly fluid and comfortable. I'm going to wait for a 21:9 fix/patch though before playing more, since the game is vert- in ultrawide for some inexplicable reason even though the UI scales perfectly.

4/10 - http://www.ign.com/articles/2017/12/02/seven-the-days-long-gone-review

Quote:
Seven's combat is devoid of both depth and variety.
Worst of all, Seven is a remarkably buggy game.

Seven: The Days Long Gone feels like it’s trying to break new ground at every turn, but in the process it makes some really bad choices and is executed poorly. Its action is acrobatic but almost immediately gets stale, climbing is only fun when the levels allow it, most crafting systems are needlessly obtuse, and its fast-travel system actively tries to kill you on a regular basis. Add to that the regular bugs, and Seven’s days are numbered.

Quote:
There are rough edges, then. Some big ones. Yet Seven is still an impressive game, even for a standout year that’s been full of them. And it’s been a bit of a surprise, coming out at the tail end of the 2017 like a dark horse. There’s nothing else quite like it, but it still feels a little familiar, drawing as it does so many classic stealth and RPG romps. It’s like a missing link between immersive sims like Deus Ex and RPGs like Ultima 7 or Divinity: Original Sin 2—weird and liberating and driven by players' whims. A patch or two wouldn’t go amiss, but the pleasures of this unusual game easily outweigh the inconveniences.

The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.

Yeah, either I'm playing the game wrong or the combat and stealth are seriously lacking...

Just checked out some gameplay videos. Not really seeing the problem they have with the combat; if this is from ex-CDPR developers it looks about right. If the story is good I'm willing to forgive a bit of jank, and the game at least looks decent.

And honestly, a lot of the complaints from publications feels a bit dishonest. Divinity Original Sin 2 is one of the buggiest most frustrating games I have ever played and has absolutely broken for me several times. . .IGN score: 9.6. Shit like this just frustrates me, and something is telling me if this game was more "hyped" as it were, then we'd be seeing some different numbers.

The prompts in 1.0.5 should have been in v1.0. Anyways, once there is an isodemo of 1.0.5, I'll give it another try.
There's a game breaking bug for azerty-keyboards with that special vision being hardcoded to Q (same as moving left). It was fixed in a previous patch, but I'm holding out until there's more fixed.

Bought and refunded (50% off now).

My thoughts after approx 35-40 mins;

graphics are actually quite nice but also inconsistent. A few times they're going for a WoW / childrens book-look, but often they're going for a much more realistic and harsher comic-book style. Don't fucking mix styles Mad

The story/intro reminds me of South Park when they mock movie studios for doing generic shit. Laughably bad.
If you're this awful at storytelling then you're probably not a great world builder either, so maybe don't try to pull of mix of medieval and cyberpunk (what a ridiculous theme).
They would have done way better just doing a generic fantasy theme, that could have made the game more immersive and believable.

Controls were ok. I liked the feeling of climbing and jumping in a isometric game.

I'm not gonna say much about gameplay since i didn't play for long, if you can immerse yourself in this type of setting then i'm sure it's a decent game.

Hello Thieves,

We know that you’re excited to dive into the new story behind Drowned Past extension. We are happy to announce that the extension is going to be available from March 26th 2019.

However, it’s not just going to be a release of an add-on. Instead, we are going to launch the brand new version of our game – Seven: Enhanced Edition – that includes Drowned Past. Anyone who already owns Seven: The Days Long Gone will be able to upgrade the game to the new edition on the launch day for free. If you have friends who own PS4, tell them that on March 26th 2019, Seven: Enhanced Edition will be released on their platform too!

What will the extension itself contain? In Drowned Past, the player will run into the Enclave, a ragtag group of mysterious vagabonds who have discovered the mythological sunken vessel and are exploring it in the hopes of unearthing riches. But things that are buried are buried for a good reason, as Teriel and the Enclave will discover. With that, the original game will get an array of new opponents, weapons, outfits, crafting schematics and skills.

With the expansion, we are bringing plenty of fixes to problems you’ve reported too. Thus, if you have encountered any bug, please wait for the new version of Seven where your issue should be sorted out.

Before we sign off, we wanted to thank you for any feedback you left in the discussion boards or in your reviews. Of course, kind words always warm our hearts but the detailed constructive feedback is always very much welcome as well. Thanks to that, we can work on a game you want to play, and we can be proud of. Thanks a million for every conversation we’ve had over this past year and we are looking forward to staying in touch with you even more.

Talk to you soon!
Fool’s Theory Team

Glad it's a free upgrade as I got this from one of the game bundles a few months back as it was on my wishlist for a while but still have not got around to playing it. Seems that first playthrough will be delayed a bit longer now till this upgrade comes out now.

Holy shit, how did I miss this game?

I'm enjoying this so very much. (18 hours in).

The clunkiness with this one is real, and it never goes away. Get past it though, and there is a gem underneath.

I think they have done a great job with exploration being the key way of unlocking better gear and skill upgrades (as well as total power). Exploring is also very worthwhile because of the pretty nice side content - which are not fetch quests.

Can't believe I missed this in 2017. It didn't seem like a game I'd enjoy, and yet here I am liking it a lot.
