I find it very interesting that many people on this forum believe they'd take out an assailant with a machine gun if they had a weapon themselves. I think it's much more likely you'll either freeze or get shot. Worst case scenario, you'll shoot some random bystander due to the adrenaline and fear. Now imagine a dozen untrained guys shooting during a frenzy.

@Mister_s
Why do you assume most people here would just freeze or get shot? I dunno whether I would manage to take out an assailant when it comes to shooting, the outcome would depend on too many variables, but I do know I wouldn't freeze. Some don't get bothered by things like that, by death, blood and other shit. They don't freeze, they don't run screaming etc. They just don't. Unfortunately the modern world has made lots of men(and women) soft and they behave like sheep.. Not so long ago 16 years boys led armies and killed enemies on battlefields.

You don't give out guns to untrained people. First they need to pass tests and proper training.
Same as in case of driving a car.
I think self-defense and gun training should be mandatory for every citizen who has reached 18 years old. Men and women.

Why did this turn into a gun shitshow?
Americans need guns to protect themselves.
There's a mass shooting almost every other day.
People don't feel safe. People who don't feel safe buy guns.
It's that simple.
Every country is different.
Is there a crime related news story on broadcast in Poland every other day?
Do you feel safe walking the streets at night?
Like... gtfo with this bull shit. You can't compare a country to another simply because it's been westernized.
There are parts in Toronto where I don't feel safe at night.
There were parts of Detroit where I didn't feel safe in broad daylight.
Point is any anti-gun bs doesn't work where the people who do have guns have them because they are a) afraid b) out to hurt someone c) because they can.
If it was just c it wouldn't be a problem.
You have towns and cities in the states where there are a lot of guns and little to gun violence.
You don't have every single person out there shooting people.
This topic is stupid once you compare a country where you can take a stroll at night and come home safe to a country where you can get robbed and shot simply because you didn't give some guy a cigarette.
America as it has been and as it will always be is living in fear. Constant fear. More people experience fear than those who don't. Those who don't see there's no reason for guns. And there we have a problem. Again topic is stupid. Talk about the show. No one is in the right and no one is in the wrong. People have difference experiences in life and they see a way to protect themselves and it helps them sleep.

Same as in case of driving a car. | So you ARE advocating for gun control, that right there seems to involve more restrictions than those that are in place in some states on 'murica
ONTOPIC: Just done with ep.8, still liking it better than LC, IF, derpfenders and maybe JJ (it's hard to compare JJ to this IMO). But I agree that it could be better than the Punisher 0.5 it is now

Well, I'm not interested in super hero (crap). I find it boring as a deus ex machina type of scenario.
I do, on the other hand, enjoy "heros" like batman or the punisher, because they don't really have special abilities, they just use technology/badassery as a power.
Is this worth watching for a guy like me, or should I just keep on my merry way?
Cheers.

What about Serbia? Switzerland? Much more guns than Poland, still no massacres.
Once again - it's the people, not the guns. Remember Magdalenka? Where did the mafia get the guns? They had a permit? For the landmines and other explosives too? Stop with the bullshit. If a criminal wants a gun he will get one. Lack of violence in countries with 1 gun for a 100 citizens (Poland) or almost 60 per 100 citizens (Serbia) has nothing to do with the guns themselves only. People are the problem.

Which countries?
|
So you didn't bother to check the statistics, huh? Figures. I guess that you also don't know that cities in the US with the most gun violence, most murders occur at the same streets/corners/districts (aka it's not spread through the whole city)? Doesn't that mean that said places are the problem and not the whole city and it's citizens?
Also, check out gun ownership in Poland between the world wars. A lot more guns than now, not that much violence. Magic!

Done!
Even with punisher 0.5 and the couple of crappy filler episodes this is only topped by DD season 1 IMO.
If they can get a season with more scenes like the action in ep11 and ep 13 then it can even get better, ep11 especially reminded me a bit of punisher MAX

I'm glad they didn't do what I expected, a simple guy-killing-people show. I liked the drama and I liked what they tried to do. It would be a 9/10 if it was 10 eps, but it gets a 8/10 for me since it has some uninteresting parts. Easily one of the best Marvel shows.
Am I the only one who was impressed by the acting? Every major character was a perfect fit for me.

Good show men, looking forward to season 2 (the one and only "superhero" show in my yearly schedule). And yes, I prefer that they keep this style!

I'd like them to keep the style and drama too, but move the character more towards what he's supposed to be, especially since there's just no space left for his personal revenge/arcs.
To be honest, though, I'm not sure we're gonna get season 2, especially in the current political climate. I hope I'm wrong, however.

+1
Was more Frank Castle than Punisher.
From someone that have read a lot of Punisher, War Zone is still the closest adaptation we had so far.

I agree.
It started out strong, they made a really nice trailer, but thats about it, i like the character development and the series is decent, but im not finding it mindblowing like some, it lacks in action, i understand that its an origins sort of story, but still.. im on ep 6 and we had 1 good action but short scene, than some sketchy ones and less interesting, some of the actions scenes even take place off camera...
Maybe its the budget, i dont know, but so far daredevil season 1 was better than this.
I enjoyed the 2004 movies as a movie and not rly as a punisher movie, but it was decent, although warzone i enjoyed the action in it, it seems they cant find a balance with this char.. they are humanizing him too much in this series...

One batch, two batch, penny and [your credit has expired]
Just finished watching it, as someone who is a complete illiterate when it comes to comics and not exactly a fan of Netflix's superhero productions, this Frank Punisherino Lite definitely entertained me. It was far from being flawless and there were fluctuations in terms of quality, but it never made me raise suspicious eyebrows (sort of): competent enough, gritty, violent , with decent production values and not devoid of basic depth which is more or less what I was hoping to find.
Bernthal embraced the role in a believable way, same for the acting in general and the characters involved - for the most part (Madani was the weakest link in my opinion, but her being cute as a button helped ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)), the various flashbacks perhaps could have been toned down a little, there were stagnating episodes and occasional wonky action scenes here and there as well, but nothing too serious. It wasn't a smooth ride for the pacing machine, but ultimately the highs swallowed the lows leaving a pleasant final outcome.
Thomas Jane's rendition was the one that introduced me to the character back in the day, and it's the one that matches my ideal (made-up) concept of how the character should act/be - especially the Dirty Laundry mini-short, I've always had a soft spot for characters that show little emotion and resort to acts of stylish, ill and old-school revenge-based badassery, almost like modern psychopaths.
I recognize though that for a TV series involving several additional characters, a certain amount of lines and interactions the idea to focus on the human side of the protagonist is a necessary one, also taking into account the military background, its problematics and the various subplots, so in the end the experiment worked fairly well in my opinion. I'm definitely interested in a second season (possibly with less filling material, that was an evident problem for me too), classic action shows are rare these days and this is a nice anomaly to have.

Duly noted, thanks! Now I just have to find a free spot for them inside the crowded backlog sack and I'm good to go, not an easy task for paper Castle but hopefully I'll do it before the second season starts..if there will be one :')
