British activist Guy Fawkes and a group of provincial English Catholics plan to blow up the House of Lords and kill King James I in the early 17th century.
The BBC has unveiled the first look at “Game of Thrones” actor Kit Harington in upcoming drama “Gunpowder,” a historical thriller also starring Liv Tyler. The broadcaster revealed the images and a special teaser Monday.
The three-part drama will air on BBC One in a primetime Saturday night slot this fall. The fast-paced period thriller relates the famous story of the “Gunpowder Plot,” a 17th-century conspiracy to blow up the British House of Lords in an attempt to assassinate King James I. The event is commemorated every Nov. 5 in Britain as Guy Fawkes Day, named after one of the conspirators.
Harington stars as Robert Catesby, a Warwickshire gentleman who masterminded the plan. Tyler plays Catesby’s cousin Anne Vaux, who gets caught up in the plot. “Downton Abbey” actor Tom Cullen plays Guy Fawkes. The cast also includes Peter Mullan, Edward Holcroft, Shaun Dooley, Robert Emms, Derek Riddell and Mark Gatiss.
Not a fan of BBC drama but I this looks promiing! Plus Jon Snow
I saw things like that in here and in other "woman problems" topics so...... Am I the only one that thinks some authorities needs to be alerted about Saner and him possibly being a rapist and/or kidnapper ?
Saner is not being serious. Unless its the subject of Santa!
Meh
I didn't know much about that history period, so it was kinda surprising to me that the gunpowder plot was a failure of such proportions. Makes the series even more pointless then.
Such pathetic losers lol Kinda sad actually... Long live the King, I guess! (5/10)
I can imagine the disappointment haha, it is a strange choice indeed for a TV series considering that there are no redeeming factors and back in the day the poor Jon Snowpowder brought the art of knowing nothing to another level.
The story is the very definition of anticlimactic, but I quite enjoyed the rendition all things considered, the direction and acting were sufficiently good, it was gritty enough and free from evident derp-o-ramas. Nothing that I would particularly recommend, but then again there wasn't much room for improvement with the degree of ineptitude showcased by the holy cheetus bunch xD
