Yeah, expected that to happen to anyone trying to 'dub' it. It never works!

It foregrounds loud, over-the-top, “edgy” humor, and it backgrounds surprisingly thoughtful character arcs. South Park: The Fractured But Whole matches the show’s strange mix of intentions; it is totally aligned in that way. And in that way, it provided the perfect reminder for why the show (and, to a lesser extent, this game) aren’t for me. |
Thanks for choosing the perfect reviewer for this, Polygon. Who else could've provided the amazing insight that people who don't like the show aren't going to like the game. |
Lolygon-aside, it sounds like the formula itself didn't suffer from the Obsidian->Ubi San Francisco transition, although the actual quality of the humour isn't quantifiable, only we can judge with the help of the mighty iso.

Yeah, it's pretty much stand-alone so you won't miss anything, though you could watch the latest episode: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt7181740/?ref_=ttep_ep4 (as the title suggests, it's a small appetizer )

Is that Butters fucking Kyle's mother?
I had to laugh at the RPS review. The self-professed straight, white, male reviewer was very excited to play a "pansexual, genderless Native American" character. He described it as the "most inclusive" AAA game he has played, but then went on to bemoan how it wasn't sensitive, supportive, and empathetic enough regarding these issues. I think the joke went over his head. I'm pretty sure the whole sequence is designed to take the piss out of tryhard SJWs like him.

Yeah Brazil and some other regional pricing on Steam apparently nearly doubled once the game got released, no idea what's up with that as it's a poor way of fighting key resales since it screws over the regular customers from these regions in the process.
Guess that even if PC gaming is a big thing in some of these areas publishers haven't understood that market yet and thus you get decisions like this whereas if they kept things reasonably priced they might get a good foothold in these areas and grow over time and become established.
Though what type of games are popular and sell are also important of course.
EDIT: Oh so it happened a while back already.

Mastermind combat difficulty is what this game was missing from The Stick of Truth. It's still not crushingly difficult, but there's just enough strategy to not make the game easy-mode.

Interesting that the "packager" is Codex + Steampunks, but the cracker is Steampunks + Codex. I wonder if that has any significance at all.
Edit: I assume Steampunks handled Denuvo and Codex handled Uplay.
