The AI is dumber than a fucking rock (this applies to both your team-mates as well as tangos).
Your "elite" team-mates consistently stare at walls and don't take cover unless you order them to directly (at least not effectivley).

Tangos are in the same boat. They may take cover, but they routinley stare at walls, in the opposite direction fire is coming from, and have the worst mix of accents I have ever heard (they're australian and german, er what nationality are the tangos? looks like the terror groups are going multinational in recruitment now Razz )

And why is it that on my team equip screen, Chavez (I ASSUME this is still Ding Chavez, from the original Rainbow 6) looks like a fucking woman? He used to be a hardcore gritty commander, but now his face/lips look like Martha fuck Stewart?

All in all this feels very much like a console game. Rainbow Six has now officially forsaken its lifeblood and sold out to the console market. Tis a sad day.

Well as a old school rainbow six gamer Lockdown is the worst release ever! of the rainbow six games.Ye the gfx looks nice but the gameplay is FUBAR.

You think Lockdown killed the serie...wait till you see the next one for the 360/PS3...you're up for a major disapointment...i saw part of the script and some artwork and if they stick to the primary idea...it will kill the serie for good

anyway wonders me if this game will be Starforce protected , becoz if yes , crackers have the main demo .exe Razz ,
anyway game is shit , where is the plannig and the AI , your team mates are STUPID walls don`t do without your direct order - wtf is this , even the first part with the lame old grafics are better then this , but thats the magic of ports , another PC gets killed by the console ahmmmm Sad now lets hope that Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon 2 will be good

And hopefully it wont be a typical Console port. I would be thrilled to see the original GhostRecon remade only with better GFX and better AI.

The demo is full of bugs and performance wise the demo sucks. I have a 6800 GT, AMD athlon 64 3500 and 512 ddr and it does not run good.

Runs fine on full settings for me, I have less than you as well - a 2ghz AMD but I have ati850 and 1gb ddr. But it's just no fun.

I can't believe they put out this garbage after Raven Shield. Where are the multiple entries?Where are the red,blue,gold teams? I can't even switch to the other team members!
Swat 4 is MUCH MUCH better.

Why is everyone so negative? Ok the AI sucks but everywhere else they've made big improvements.

The gameplay feels smoother (bar the lean left and right), the menus are a LOT faster which is a big plus for me, the graphics are nicer and idk what game pikachupi was playing but the windows are destructable. You were all expecting a massive world that could be blown up. Yes the AI was annoying but it's only a demo. I'd be pretty surprised if it did get released in that condition, or a lot of patches weren't released for it.

What about the planning of the map, different teams going in, being able to switch between teams and operatives? Utilizing the sniper in tough spots where the AI would know shit? What about the leech gear menu in RvS where you had a detailed description of every weapon and a small window showing it's weak and strong points with bars? What about the types of armor you were able to pick? light, medium, heavy, which had effect on your game because heavy armor would make you slower and makes your aim less accurate but gives you more protection, etc. Now all you can pick for armor is a color. What about dieing and the game ending..... when a real team loses an operative they contineu with the mission in LD the game ends 0-sec after Chavez dies like some arcade FPS. The only improvement that has been made imo are the graphics, best to stick with RvS.

I understand where you are coming from Sublime. It's not a bad game from the looks of the demo. The whole thing is neat, tidy and works well. The trouble comes in what it offers and from an action perspective it's very little new or exciting. In fact I'd say it's plain boring and prefunctory from the demo. Then there is the tactical, or strategic aspects of which there is essentially none. From the perspective of a Rainbow Six fan that's just not good enough.

I personally thought the series went tits up with the last release. It was turned into a first person on the rails shooter - but it was still quite good. This one I don't know. Felt stale and pointless.

RvS was brilliant. If you call it a shooter on rails then you were playing something else. I have been playing Rainbowsix since the first part and yes RvS was not accepted easily by the R6 community and it was not what everyone thought it to be but I still thought It was a fucking good game, still is a fucking good game and I think it is the best R6 game out there even better than Rogue Spear.

Yes I ,know I kinda missed that out but I was going to write about it but I forgot. Never the less though I used to use the default planning and usually the map didn't play as it is intended to anyway.
As for the armour, i'm not 100% certain that won't be in the game in the end. I think that being a demo only they held back some equipment and team specials.

as for not advancing games further.... many games don't do that anymore. I've got pretty bored of playing single player games anyway and step it up to multiplayer quite often. I tried to play it yesterday but I couldn't get on a server that was actually playing so I can't really comment on that.

Pizda, don't know what game you played but that game took the series into FPS terroritory in terms of losing the propietary engine in favour of FPS engine. That changes the approach, the feel and loses many aspects of the original gameplay. GTA series done so well to retain the style and gameplay despite engine improvements, few games manage this.

The gameplay itself was markedly different and much more action orientated towards traditional first person shooter style, less methodical Rainbow Six style.

Great demo! I was surprised how good it is. Nice gameplay, great graphics and with the right settings it even runs decently on weaker hardware. The only thing I found a bit disappointing was the pathfinding of the hostages. One of them got stuck inside a wall and it was a pretty time-consuming task to get him out again. I didn't notice any other flaws with the game. I like that they finally got rid of the planning phase on the PC too. That you can take some hits without dying immediately and the option to quick save anytime is also cool. Now the game is really playable and fun. Hardcore realism and frustrating difficulty doesn't make a game fun. Imo it's still realistic enough and serious enough. It doesn't play like a normal FPS like HL2 or Q4.
I don't know why they say the PC version is a different game, it seems to me that it is a port after all. After I played the PC demo I played the first mission on Xbox and the level design was almost the same. But the graphics are 10x better on PC. The team who did the Xbox version seems to be not really skilled in Xbox coding. When you look at Splinter Cell Chaos Theory you see that the Xbox is capable of much more. Anyway, I guess will play Lockdown on PC and just forget the Xbox version now.
