There was a game breaking bug that made me unable to get past the second jump in the tutorial so i refunded the game. I have 18 years of experience.

Not me. I have 23 years of experience (gaming since 5).
Going to try the game tonight. Looks good. Maybe it will hit that super meat boy style

Really cool game not even close to be as hard as Super Contra, Ghosts 'n Goblins or other run and gun platformer from my youth, but i really dig it, it also helps that my reflexes are not as good as back then when i was a kid anymore Laughing

For those looking to move faster there's a way to double dash really quick.

Dash while on the ground and near the end you can jump out of it and hit dash again. time it right it almost turns into an extra long dash and gets some major distance.

It works, Leeroy Cupkins style Very Happy (risky as hell...but gotta go fast). The run 'n gunning around sections are entertaining in their own way, though what I really like is the design of the bosses with the different themes, phases and all the little animations and amusing faces.

The 30s art-style is just perfect, the post-processing tricks (blur, a ton of chroma, noise) are simple but they really give a genuine result overall.
It's a bit of a shame that the two 'modes' are separated, it would be great to have full levels where you unlock a boss at the end, with more power-ups, even puzzles in the middle for something more organic. A Cuphead 2 maybe? Razz

edit:
Rebinding the pew-pew button improved my (poor) results a bit, I assigned it to the right shoulder so that it's possible to jump *and* shoot without too much hassle. I tried the keyboard too but I'm really too rusty :3

I'm loving this game so far.

It's simple but fun and challenging. Plus it looks amazing.

Played some and the game is really good and very hard... but also a bit repetitive and very tiring. Everything looks the same after few rounds. Which was to be expected with this style.
Still - It's a joy to look at and hell to play Razz

And the default xbox controller bindings are terrible. Moved shooting to triggers and now You can jump and shoot at the same time.

I did and hadn't any problem finishing the fights (airplane, sunflower)

But I felt ashamed and it simple difficulty does not grant tokens

Hahah exactly Very Happy one HP short from victory, every single time!
Feels great though, I love receiving punishment for being an impatient cup, it's an addictive carrot and stick (10% carrot, 90% rough painful stick) mechanism. It awakens the "screw you game, I can do it" inner pride Cool Laughing

If you want to experience more genuine ragefucks install Ruiner as well, but first make sure the keyboard is still under warranty xD

Do you confirm simple mode does not grand the boss soul? (read that on steam forums).
Took me 70 deaths to finish the first island.

Yep. I remember back in 2004 I was playing need for speed underground 2 with my father (change each race) and we had this code to do each race on hardest difficulty. We finished the game twice Twisted Evil
