A Cure For Wellness - 4/10.
Pretty dull with a plot that can be deduced by the midway point.

Lights Out - 7/10
Good concept with some decent jump scares.

I found it okay to watch 6/10. It's a nice popcorn movie, with the typical "we put some romantic hollywood bs in there for the ladys" but nothing more. Didn't even knew that it's from an anime Laughing

meh 4/10
beginning was good but as soon as this black dude popped up it had this weird childish and confuse anime tone to it. also too many "funny" scenes.

at first i thought this could be something like wishmaster but i was heavily disappointed.
main actor was good and dafoe did a good job too even tho he looked pretty stupid and not scary at all.

I was surprised by it. Decent japanese splaterpunk/grindhouse flick.

Death Note - 3/10

Gosh, what a waste. I'll say the anime is probably one of my favourite series, so I'm definitely biased, but even as a standalone movie this one sucks. For me Death Note had two main draws. One was seeing the clash of wills and intellects between two weird, but strong individuals. The other was seeing one of them devolve more and more into a madman. Neither is present in this movie, mainly because they changed Light's character to make him a:

a) weak, indecisive fool
b) more relatable and understandable to the viewer - thanks to the revenge backstory and romance subplot - which is precisely what should NOT be happening.

This makes L the sole star of the show (he's pretty solid - maybe the only actually interesting person in the entire flick), but even he can't shine, because the script is just too weak and the movie feels way too rushed. I don't like making romance the focus, especially with as uninteresting and flat characters as these (in fact, we don't really know a single thing about Mia aside from the fact that she likes watching people die - Margaret Qualley is very beautiful though). I also don't like the fact that an adaptation had to make fundamental changes to the notebook's ruleset, just so that it fit its silly plot - really should've been the other way around.

Aside from L, visuals were pretty solid, including the rather graphical gore and Dafoe's Ryuk (who was a waste otherwise, since they didn't use him in any interesting ways).

hitmans bodyguard

theres a triple a rated 90 minute movie in here screaming to get out.

look, im happy to admit that hayek has moments where she looks great, especially that bit where shes sitting cross-legged in that shirt that shows off her best acting traits, but come on... shes always been a rubbish actress. EVERY single scene with her was horrible. she was a shitty actress portraying a shitty one-note character, and that note was "i always swear a lot". sammy motherfucking jackson swears a lot, but its generally with purpose and always with pretty solid comedic timing. hayek ruined every single scene she was in.

cut out every bit she was in, get rid of that retarded singing bit which went on way too long and went nowhere, and tighten the film up a bit, and youd have something pretty damn cool. as it was, youve got something pretty damn cool, with some rather superfluous and annoying bits in it that kill momentum unnecessarily.

the movie shines during its surprisingly solid amount of action sequences though.

In Guerra per Amore (At War for Love) - 7,5/10

A nice little movie about the Allied invasion in Sicily, part comedy and part not-so-happy reality, a bittersweet vision of an event that fixed one big problem...but started another.
It's charming and well-made despite the limited budget, with some parts and characters that are absolutely hilarious Very Happy (as per usual the subtitles may lose some of the original appeal since the movie occasionally plays around with the raw Sicilian dialect, but it's something minor that doesn't hamper the experience).

Very dull movie, nothing exciting happens in it at all. I suppose it's a side effect of making 2 films out of 1 book.

Meh. I fall asleep in the middle of the movie, woke up 20 minutes later and didn't miss anything important. Action and effects were ok. I didn't care for the characters, Scarlett was boring as fuck.

Gods of Egypt - walk out on it/10
Just stupid and not even in entertaining way.

I actually did like it, sort of Smile I haven't read the books, so this is maybe why I rate it so good.
It did feel a bit rushed and jumpy though. Some stuff left unexplained that clearly shows a bigger role than it has been given.

King Arthur: Legend of the Sword. 6/10. It would have been good without Guy Ritchie's fast and hip editing style. Too often i thought i was watching a trailer for the movie and i had to remind myself that what i'm experiencing is actually the movie itself. I really liked many of the characters etc, but man did that directing style ruin it..

Wonder Woman - 4/10

I didn't find it very engaging at all. I expected more from such a well-recieved movie, but I don't think I liked it any more than BvS. In fact, I'm pretty sure I liked it less, since the action was shitty most of the time, and BvS at the very least had one solid duel. WW's last battle was a complete joke. The script could use some serious work too. Some of the dialogue lines felt impossibly cheap and tacky ("I believe in love"... like, seriously? There was at least one other like that too, but I can't be arsed to look for it), none of secondary characters left an impression on me at all either. Finally, the whole romance thing felt completely flat and devoid of chemistry, which is a really bad thing, considering they decided to make it the focal point of the entire movie, for some unfathomable reason (probably connected to winning over the female audience which was already captivated by all the feminist vibes).

I liked Gadot and I liked the setting - WW I is so rarely used in movies, even historical ones. I suppose I also kinda liked the structure - it's obviously simple, but it's still pretty nice to see someone hired by WB remembering how to properly progress a story. I had some doubts on that front after the horrible mess that was Suicide Squad, and both BvS and Man of Steel had some problems with that too.

Tron - 5/10

It's been ages since I first (& last) watched it. Ridiculous overacting, paper thin characters, and a poor script - this is very clearly a film for children.

On the plus side the high detailed 65mm photography - the only film of the 80s to resurrect the glorious format - is magnificently captured in the blu-ray restoration, and the early CG work works even today (minus some aliasing), if you appreciate minimalism.

Strong and independent Wonder Woman: Snu Snu Origins - 5/10

Another day, another disappointing iperimdbnflated superhero movie, a rock solid routine of our Hollylife.
Name a more iconic duo, although to be honest talking about disappointment here is incorrect since it would imply that there were expectations to begin with. And yet, curiosity won as per usual, shame on that Crying or Very sad Laughing

Such roboant numbers and reception made me go ahead (the byproduct of an artificial sentiment? Surely not!), and men watching the movie really confirmed the suspicions. A shockingly mediocre oomphy shaolin-stunt-mo attempt, with visceral(tm) directing job sporting excessive use of very cheap CGI, so-so pacing, vapid dialogues taking themselves seriously, and if there's one thing that I find worse than regular cringe, it's the agenda-driven cringe, and the movie was jam-packed with that. Every five minutes the poor viewer gets schooled by the University of Empowering, providing material for twitter posts carrying the #wecandoit2k17 tag.

The acting didn't help either, with Gal that despite being a good fit for the role in my opinion (and absolutely giggity stunning Razz) couldn't quite convey believable emotions, with Pine doing what Pine does best (sucking the fun out of movies), a random broken Spud, alienated outcasts, monotone silly morals, that ridiculous final battle coming straight out of a Dragon Ball episode, long list of clichès is long.

“What is a secretary?” “I go where he tells me to go and do what he tells me to do.” “Well where I come from that's called slavery.” ~ A masterful masterpiece of our times, 9/10. The Mary Sue

I have a naughty confession to make, and I agree with Aquma, I l̶i̶k̶e̶d tolerated Fatbats vs Martha more than this one

Snyder did get bashed for that flick (rightfully so, he damn well deserved it), but I fail to see how Patty Jenkins can do something that's just as poor both technically and stylistically speaking (or worse in some instances howsuchathingisevepossible.gif), yet everyone and their Amazon mum from the journalistic planet is sucking her tits whilst praising the amazingness of her 'groundbreaking' work. Something ain't quite right, I'd better ask it to FemFreq for the rational response.

Wonder Woman - 7/10

Easily the best DCEU film and very entertaining. Despite a rocky start at Themyscira filled with bad performances, poor dialog and ridiculous action scenes, it's not long after that the film finds its footing, as our heroes journey to London. There the film is given the opportunity to provide plenty of slower moments and laughs. Neither Gadot nor Pine can provide stellar performances, but they remain thoroughly charming and they have great chemistry. The action is well shot, not as ridiculous as I thought it would be from the trailers or earlier in Themyscira, and is accompanied fittingly by Rupert Gregson-Williams' triumphant, albeit overly familiar, "epic" soundtrack.

Gadot is photographed like a supebly made combination of Goddess/Supermodel - and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Disappointingly the film devolves into a yawn inducing CGI mess for the finale... and... I also think the bad guy Diane had to fight was a ridiculous choice of the screenwriters/director/casting department..... It made me laugh... Laughing ...and not because it was funny...

Still, at least Diane didn't have to fight against a blue sky beam... itssomething.jpg all things considered given the state of the genre.

Overall well done Jenkins! But as Snyder leaves the DCEU behind after the upcoming Justice League, a lot of people will write about what his contributions to the franchise were and I expect only a few will actually remember that he is responsible for the casting of Gadot - undoubtedly the star of the franchise, currently. At least let's give him that.
