Executive producers include Bryan Singer, Simon Kinberg (director and writer of several X-Men movies respectively) and (Marvel's) Jeph Loeb but I'm sure they are only in name connected to it.
Plot:
Quote:
Fox’s “Hellfire” is set in the late 1960s and follows a young special agent who learns that a power-hungry woman with extraordinary abilities is working with a clandestine society of millionaires, known as “The Hellfire Club,” to take over the world.
No idea if there is a connection to the movies.

The 2 showrunners bailed out to run the 24 reboot and the other 2 writers who came up with the story left the project as well. Production is searching for new writers now.
It is noted this happened because "Hellfire is on a slower development track", not a priority to make it as soon as possible. For that reason "the X-Men drama is not likely to go to pilot this season as it remains on a slower track".
It is also noted this doesn't mean there isn't faith in the project, it's business as usual.

The untitled series will focus on two ordinary parents who discover their children possess mutant powers. Forced to go on the run from a hostile government, the family joins up with an underground network of mutants and must fight to survive.
The writer is Matt Nix, creator of "Burn Notice" and "The Good Guys."
Therefore I am changing the thread title to the new series.

Apparently the script has been very well received within the network.
Quote:
The project, which is untitled, had been a standout. Early versions of the script by Nix had been received enthusiastically at Fox and the producing studios, with a formal pilot green light contingent upon delivery of the final draft. Exploratory casting already had begun, with the process expected to ramp up now that there is an official pilot order.

Bryan Singer (X1, 2, 5, 6) directing the pilot. Pilot logline reads:

There's only 1 other, and it's the most unique superhero show you can find.

“Without getting into specifics that I’ll get murdered for, I would say that a fan of the movies — particularly the movies but also the comic books — would not be disoriented as to where this fits in the mythology. If you look at the movies that take place, they don’t all line up perfectly. So it’s not like I’m slavishly fitting myself into a particular slot [but] if you like that world and the world of the movies, there are definite nods to it, it definitely exists in the same general universe.”
Quote:
In a sort of general way, it acknowledges that events like those that happened in the movie have happened. It’s still evolving, so we’ll see how much that comes in. But it’s certainly not like ‘since this happened X-Men Apocalypse, now all of these things are happening,’ which I think is cool but [S.H.I.E.L.D.] already did that.”

Yes, because everyone wanting an X-Men show asked for a family drama with a no-name mutant
Hell, even a procedural with Jamie Madrox (the detective in X-Factor) would have been better even though we live in a world where Lucifer, the lord of hell
has been turned into a crime solving sleuth

That looks very much like a tv thing (read: cheap), I can't say it resembles the films at all.
I mean it IS a TV series, still.. visually it looks very unimpressive.

They are not building a "cinematic universe", the films, Legion and The Gifted are all standalone.
Good pilot. Hot girls, the weak occasional acting (mostly by the guys), good display of powers and effects (but the budget will go down after the pilot...). Meh story.
Kind of similar to Heroes, mostly in terms of being ordinary people with powers rather than superheroes, vigilantes or goverment agents.
7/10

Am I the only one watching this? It gets interesting while progressing, it's an enjoyable watch. The family drama is terrible really, the boy is irritating and the girl can't act (she also has a very derpy look). Why can't they just make a simple show about mutants being hunted, without all this family/love drama?
Don't expect anything near X-men quality and you'll enjoy it.
