Catching up with the melodrama behind the entire thing was amusing, like the ghetto version of a cyber war movie starring a bunch of cocky developers, an evil empire and the ruthless hairless hero that gamers deserve and need. Laughing Very Happy

I just installed the Codex version and the performance seems to be so-so here (considering the simplistic visuals), though I do get constant 60fps with my gimpy 970 as long as I avoid taxing AA methods and put the shadows on medium, leaving everything else on 'max' (sticking to 1080p as per usual). Don't have stuttering or any other nastinesses thankfully. As for the game itself, I'll have to play some more to judge it Razz

Yeah but that's the only thing about it..."looks similar"

Zelda is a Masterpiece in it's genre. Any other comparison to Zelda is useless imo!

Not even remotely close!

Yeah the art style is somewhat similar to Breath of the Wild perhaps but gameplay wise this is more of a walking simulator with very light puzzle elements and occasional platforming for reaching the next area.

EDIT: I suppose the game looks a bit cartoon like or how to say though this also makes the visual quality look very simplistic or almost like some Unity Engine game whereas the developers actually went with using UE4 and some pretty fancy shader effects, water effects alone such as reflections take a hefty hit on performance compared to how the game looks.
(Reflections, refractions, even tessellation for surface movement such as waves.)

EDIT: Perhaps inspired by games such as ICO or Last Guardian more so than games that lean more towards role-playing or hack&slash since there's no real combat or character progression in this game, only real item system is the keys you pick up and the occasional movable item whether it's pushing something or just dropping say a fruit to lure away a boar.

You have the right to hate the latest Zelda, but you gotta admit that it was praised by the press and people as a masterpiece...

Just finished:

Longer than I thought it was going to be. Jumping is a little fickle. I don't like the barriers to backtracking, it forces replaying to get missables.

I totally expected it to be solely based on the perspective puzzles that were shown in the previews. This was not the case.

In what universe do you live in were there as to be an age to appreciate something well made ?? Maybe you should stop playing games altogether with that crap reasoning of yours if by your standards a game needs to have an age associated with it to be enjoyable...

And just by your depiction of what Zelda is..I'm guessing you have no fucking clue about what it is!!

Completed the bald RiMEthrough (in six hours or so), a quaint beast but definitely not a bad one in my opinion. Perhaps misleading though, since like Oakwind mentioned I was led to believe it was some sort of exploration-based puzzle-heavy hybrid, but..it's actually yet another of those hand-held environmental experiences simulating the "art" of walking, only the result here is slightly slightly less obvious and guided than the usual, which makes the experience less cinederpmatic at least. Razz

It's a story dynamically told through the gameplay itself without using any hud/silly markers at all (yay!), but it's limited in scope and the platforming parts + puzzles are extremely straightforward (nay Mad), though the greatly evocative nature of the journey along with the relaxing ethereal music, vistas and art-style produced a pleasing result overall for me. A simplistic, yet enjoyable 7/10 attempt, definitely worth an isodemo. Charming, calm and cheerful, then suddenly bittersweet and..a dispenser of feels near the end.

General:
- The game will no longer initialize VR hardware on launch.
- Fixed an issue with crashing after alt-tabbing in windowed mode on Windows 7
- There was an issue where both double- and triple-buffering Vsync were behaving inappropriately with certain hardware configurations which could lead to wild swings in frame rate. This issue should now be resolved.
- Fixed an audio issue that occurred in Stage 2 when using certain headphones.
- Fixed a few hardware specific crashes.
