Alright. My old computer stopped working and buying a new mobo for an old socket, LGA1155, isn't really something I want to do.

I'm looking at the ryzen 1700 but can't decide on which motherboard and ram.

From what I read, Ryzen benefits from a higher clockfreq. So I want fast ram and a motherboard that can run it... and I want it cheap!!!

Any surgestions?

I have read the thread you started and saw what you did buy.

the motherboard you mentioned is somewhat more expensive vs. the b350 socket and the mayor diffence is X370 can do SLI, which I won't be using.

the ram your mentioning seems ok, But from what I read I should get single rank ram as that is supported at a higher freq.

not sure about ryzen 5. I'm thinking the more cores the better. Thinking that multiple cores will be important in the future. Very Happy

You're probably going to upgrade your CPU again before a 12-thread Ryzen starts to lag behind a 16-thread one in games in any significant way.

ASRock Fatal1ty AB350 Gaming K4 and Gigabyte GA-AB350-Gaming 3 are in the 100 euro territory and both support 3200mhz ram speeds. Pair one of those boards with Ryzen 1700 and you are good to go for many years.
