Back in her home town to visit her sick mother (Robyn Nevin), Robin becomes determined to find Tui, despite encountering roadblocks from local police and the girl's tight-knit and tight-lipped family. Her search leads her to cross paths with GJ (Holly Hunter), a spiritual leader who has set up a camp for troubled women, and her high-school sweetheart Johnno Mitcham (Thomas M. Wright). As she digs deeper into the case, she unearths town secrets and realizes she must face dark truths from her own past
Nicole Kidman is reteaming with her Portrait Of A Lady director, Jane Campion, for the second season of thriller Top Of The Lake. Kidman’s participation has been the subject of on-and-off rumors, with the BBC confirming the casting today as the actress arrived in Sydney to begin filming with series star Elisabeth Moss. Titled Top Of The Lake: China Girl, the story will see Moss’ Detective Robin Griffin investigating the case of an unidentified body which washes up on Sydney’s Bondi Beach. As previously reported, the second installment also features Game Of Thrones star Gwendoline Christie in a “major role.”
Watching S1 now and i'm quite impressed so far (E04).
The tone reminds me of Ozark and Silence of the Lambs, but it's also its own thing, sometimes really surprising and weird (in a good way). The actors are fantastic too.
