Gigabit ethernet overly complicates board design (especially when everything is so tight) so it's not just a matter of few cents, but I understand you. Also I've never seen a laptop with IPS screen, but probably 2000+ eur range has them.

I was once recommended this site for (custom built) laptops. Very happy with the result. https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/ There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in. Truly gone fishing.
