Played for 90 minutes, and so far it's not bad, quite tense and fucked up. Doesn't take long before you get sexually harassed by a creepy woman(or guy dressed as a woman...unsure... )
"I think Call of Duty resonates because it's believable and relatable," Sledgehammer Games cofounder Michael Condrey says.
Believable and relatable...Yep, sounds like Call of Duty
Finished the game... God, this game is a piece of shit. No comparison to outlast 1 in terms of scares/atmosphere. You can really feel how they stretched the content to make the game longer... I'll rate it 5/10 since it had some good moments, but most of the gameplay was shit... And that ending? Wtf?

Finished it in 6 hrs btw.
For the ending and many other sequences it seems you once again need to track down most of the notes and recordings to understand the story events a bit although the actual end sequence is still a bit of a mess due to various things.
That had a pretty good summary of it done by apparently playing through the game 10 times to get all these collectibles and then piecing together the story with those.
Since I don't have time or money for Outlast 2 at the moment, I watched it on stream yesterday. The atmosphere seems pretty intense and the story was interesting enough up until the end when it went full retard. I'm not sure is worth full price.

I thought someone would say that. Watching a stream isn't quite literal for me since I keep multiple streams open in my browser and tab in from time to time while I'm doing other stuff.
Because I wasn't sure when/if I'll get to play this game and as I've seen a bit of the story unfold on the stream I was curious of where the writers take it from there and if they explore the subject in a way the majority is avoiding. Turned out the story was going to a place full of disappointment. And since you used this tricky word called "experience", I have to say that aside of a few exceptions spoilers don't generally affect me that much and sometimes I even seek them.

you know nobody forces you to play games at release dates, if you waited this long for a release might as well wait some more, just play the game (as in "experience" it) as youre supposed to do and dont watch others play it for you. then again you do what you want to in the end.
now that you said the ending is shit im even more curious but i aint gonna youtube it, going to let it play out even if it takes me a full week to finish the game.

Is there a problem that people deal with stuff like this in different ways? I know my backlog and how often I start playing games that I skipped at their time to allow myself watch some on streams. It's not like I'm going to write a review based on someone else's stream.
Cheers, definitely useful.
Luckily it's one of those UE-powered games that have tweakable inis like the old times, other important basic ones are:
- disabling the CA by setting “AllowChromaticAberration” to False in the OLSystemSettings.ini
- increasing the FOV with “BaseFOV” in OLGame.ini (the default is 90, but I feel more comfortable with higher values)
It's also possible to disable the motion blur, bloom or any other effect in the same files, unlocking the framerate is also possible (“MaxSmoothedFrameRate” value in the OLEngine.ini) and so on.
finished the game, tense as fuck, the mines section was just crazy.
the ending was ok, there are clues in the notes so dont know why some people didnt liked it, sure not all questions were answered but they could do a prequel dlc like with whistleblower.
overall the game was good, loved the atmosphere, the jonestown creepy religious vibe. the location, im curious where the story could go next.
So, from what I've been reading in different places this sequel isn't nearly as good as the first game. And most people agree that in danger situations you should just learn (after several deaths) the escape route and run like the wind as hiding or trying to stealth is pretty much a waste of time.
A shame really, good thing I don't pre-order games anymore so in cases like this I can save me some money. Off the steam wishlist it goes.
