Anyone with some good review sites or recommendations?

Must be around 200€ (I know we all want great ones, just don't got the budget for it)... Pretty much 1080p/60hz is fine by me, I prefer IPS but toss arguments at me anyway. Been a few years and haven't followed up on screens at all.

Oh and fuck Nvidia up the arse with a barbed wire... the difference in price for gsync compared to freesync is insane. Knew it was bad, didn't know it was THAT bad.

Haven't come up with any yet, but if I find some I'll post them here. Only just started the search.

mh, the dell u2412m is slightly above 200 euros (224 atm here in germoney) but its worth the money. either go for that or for a cheap 24 benq display (but you wont have an ips panel in that 120 euro category)

seems its about 250 in sweden or lets say 2400sek. your hardware prices always suck Wink

Yeah prices suck over here, especially when used to the Belgian/German ones Sad

The Dell U2414H is the one I liked so far, but I'm only getting into the groove of searching for one. Had to read up on a whole lot of things first.

It most likely is yeah, but I don't have the tools for it. Also been about a decade since I soldered anything so rather go with a new one this time around and get the tools later to see if I can fix it.

Then again, because of the symptons it showed in the last day I have more reason to believe it's the transformer. Anywho, I'll find out for sure later when I do get around to fiddle with it.

Thanks for the suggestions going to have a look into them.

Btw if anyone has a good source for review site, as in reliable/professional that would be great since I'm just going with what I can find myself but have no clue to who are the good ones when it comes to displays.

It cost me 15 kronor to fix one of my monitors (6 years ago) and it's still working like charm.
So just do it, one of those soldering thingies cost like 200 SEK and the capacitor goes for like 15-30 SEK.
DO EET! >.<

Look, if you really want to buy a cheap monitor then Bogdan's Van sale has some good monitors that "fell off a truck".
You can usually find Bogdan and his van in malmö around where all the Polandballs sell their products.

After reading und reading und reading and suggestions I ended up with the Dell U2414H and am a happy camper. Tis great for the money I had available. Downsides: touch buttons (even though they are a bit more responsive than my LG) and that the settings were defaulted at energy saving which gave a crappy first impression. Built quality is great, damn thing isn't getting as warm as my LG. Stays pretty cool.

T'was an adventure though. Postal services lost the package, for a week nothing happened. Webhallen said it be a miracle if it would ever turn up so they'd send me a new one. All of a sudden both screens arrive on the same day.
Now one is just sitting at the collection point waiting for me to not pick it up and be send back. Bit silly that telling them to send it back already doesn't work...

Damn, I'm still stuck with my oooooold Samsung 22" T220 TN monitor, 1680x1050 (using my crisp, clear 47" Panasonic Viera TX47AS750E @ 1920x1080 at the moment though to play games on. I don't even have to enable the Game Mode on the TV, there's no lag or latency whatsoever).

The top back light tube is flickering after starting up and settles after ~10 minutes (more or less). It's 9 years old (the T220 was released in 2008).

Meh, just for the "fun" of it I'll list the basics:

MSI Z77A-GD65 (modded BIOS)
Ivy Bridge Core i5-3570K @ 4.5GHz with Corsair H100i (O/C'd since the day I bought it)
12GB DDR3 (8GB Gskill ARES-kit and 4GB Corsair XMS3-kit, extra memory for audio production)
MSI Radeon HD 7950 O/C (overclocked to 1100/1700, stock is 830/1250)
Corsair RX750

Yet I manage to play most games (well, the ones I play anyway) at high<->max settings @ 60FPS+ @ 1920x1080. One game I had issues with was Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. I need to keep video ram usage below 3GB (that's what the 7950 has), otherwise the game will CTD.

I want a new 27"+ monitor. People think "CPU, GPU, SSD, speedperformance~drool" when they think of upgrades giving them ridiculous scores in benchmarks and playable performance in ridiculous resolutions. However, what's the one thing we actually spend our time looking at and getting the visual output of the computer from? The monitor. Hence it should be a high priority choice.

I still don't see any reason to go for a new CPU (which includes a new motherboard and new RAM) since my current setup can handle 99% of the games out there without issue (the GPU is still #1 bottleneck if you sit on a mid-high end Sandy- or later generation system).

How can you not have dual channel Ram?

I agree on the importance of the screen. Its one of these parts where you buy once and be good for many years. No reason to cheap out on it.

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

Report if the colors are alright.
I ordered a Dell U2414H a few years ago, and mine had an ugly yellow tint that was not fixable with color adjustments. Mad
Which was a shame, because besides that it made a good impression.

Aye read that some people had the yellow tint or lots of problems with backlight bleeding... luckily mine was fine. Tested it the moment I hooked it up.

Congrats. It's a great monitor. I've had mine for a year now i think. Not a single issue to date.

Those buttons!! yes I hate them, especially when trying to turn the monitor off. It sometimes work flawlessly, other times i frantically try all kinds of stroking, touching, finger, thumb, pinky arggghhhh just turn the fuck off Rage

I thought about upgrading to a 1440 Dell panel but after reading a comparison on the best Dell 1440 compared to the 2414, it doesn't seem worth the $£
