1 x Toshiba N300 High-Reliability 4TB, SATA 6Gb/s, retail (HDWQ140EZSTA)
(not ordered a GPU yet, but hoping to get one of them very soon in a good deal)
1 x Palit GeForce GTX 1070 JetStream, 8GB GDDR5, DVI, HDMI, 3x DisplayPort (NE51070015P2J)
1 x MSI GeForce GTX 1070 Gaming X 8G, 8GB GDDR5, DVI, HDMI, 3x DisplayPort (V330-001R) |
Even without a new GPU i already paid ~1300€, WTF...
It makes me kinda sad having to pay that much. But well, hopefully it will hold a bit.
And hopefully i can get ~300€ or more for my old PC.
Of course still excited though to see a nice upgrade over my 2500k / slow DDR3 RAM / 970.
Most excited to see that case live though.

Nice build!
Be sure to report back on how the delidding went.
I got myself 6 Silent wings 3 high speed fans for my Ryzen build (3 3-pin for the case and 3 PWM for the mobo) . At 5v they are virtually silent, but they can push alot of air on demand. It helps with stability tests for OCs. (Nothing like a good IBT run to get those temps up) They are probably never as silent as the normal silent wings 3 though I suppose.

I say, it depends alot on your dl speeds. I have a 200/100mbit line, so I dont need to have everything installed all the time.
I have one 256GB NVMe Samsung EVO, two SSDs with 256 and 512GB respectively, one 1TB WD Blue and a NAS for Movies, Pictures and Documents.

the KFA² GeForce GTX 1080 EXOC is available for 498 euros in germoney
and its not a bad card, just ~50-60 euros more than the 1070 (if you go for a 1070 go for a palit jetstream or a gainward phoenix, dont pay extra money for oced versions)

Hmm I am always a bit skeptical about ordering stuff from unknown manufacturers.
Edit: Better said, manufacturers that I don't know.

KFA² is known everywhere else as Galaxy (or GalaxyTech), or was, they renamed to Galax and published products with that name in germany too, then again changed to KFA² again. Kinda big player in the industry, but not well known here. they exist since the early 90s and belong to palit microsystems too

Indeed, in that Setup, some NVMe SSD lie a Samsung 960 EVO seems to be a must. |
I still have a 250 SSD i will carry over (OS, Apps, most played games).
Was thinking of buying another 1 TB SSD just for games. But then i thought "meh, i can live with a few more seconds loading times".

What you mean they don't look enthusiastic? If you are talking that i don't go for a 1080 (Ti), then yea. I don't have a need for those yet, as i still only play on 1080p, and probably will do so for an unknown time.
The rest of my current system:
- 2500k OC @ 4.4Ghz
- 16GB DDR3 @ 1366
- MSI 970 Gaming OC
- Some ~6 year old case by Xigmatek i think
- 3 HDDs, that i plan to replace with one of the new HDDs, and use the old 2TB for not so important stuff like porn videos

For gaming the GPU will make a difference but the rest of the existing components you have already hold up really well though it's partially due to how slow Intel and AMD have been with the CPU development offering ~5% or so gains although the motherboard improvements have some nice changes too and DDR4 offers some nice changes but it won't make a huge difference in overall performance.
GPU is definitively going to make a difference though even for "just" 1920x1080 and you get rid of the ~4 GB VRAM bottleneck too even if it's not as big a deal but even in 1080p there's a couple of games now that go above that limit so that's definitively going to help.
EDIT: CPU is 4 core already which is the sweet spot currently, also clocked up a bit so you're not hitting any limits unless the game is severely CPU dependent, time and time again in even the newest released games when they do a CPU comparison you see exceptional scaling from 2 to 4 cores and then almost nothing at all from 4 to higher although it's slowly changing but it's still not a huge issue.
You do get some new extensions and what not which might see some benefit and again the motherboard improvements such as native PCI-E 3, SATA3, M.2, USB 3.x and what not will be useful as will support for UEFI and having a modern bios UI heh.
RAM sees a nice clock boost but not many games see a direct benefit from that though those that do will definitively show a improvement though well not every game is going to be "optimized" like Fallout 4 is, does lower power usage though as a bonus.

Ignore above baboon and just take it easy on the GPU upgrade, it can wait a little.

Why have so many games installed in the first place, especially since you krautkistanis have blazingly fast interwebs in the first place?
