But it will still have a derp MP part, so why bother? Oh well at least the free SP campaign is good for a few hours.

They went back to its roots this year with the MW remaster.
And look how that turned out. COD on PC is dead, no matter how good or bad the game turns out to be.

It's not like the first CoDs were that good anyways.
CoDs are only known for the action IMO, the story was and always will be clichee crap.

Unless they get rid of everything that was introduced with MW1, and expanded upon by subsequent titles, it's not going back to the series' real roots.

I'm sure their idea of 'roots' is MW2, because that means they continue with bullshit killstreaks and pandering to casuals.

Believable and relatable...Yep, sounds like Call of Duty

Tactical Nuke 2.0 and Rust Remake, a joyful combo to bring back the adrenaline of a vintage Call of Duty Very Happy Laughing

I honestly don't care either way. When I made this thread in 2010 there was perhaps still a bit of (very remote) hope left to squeeze something decent-ish out of the franchise, but as of now...after all the tragic yearly stagnation, silly anti-consumer policies, risible reskinned copy-pastas and parody-like paper-thin cinematic campaigns, it truly is a lost cause.

I gave Call of Duty Online, the f2p version of Cowadoodie available only on the Chinese market a try, and let me tell you, with 300 ping the hit reg was on par with previous CoD titles I played with a 60-80 ping. Laughing

While playing I realized Activision is trying to turn all CoDs into CoD Online. It has swords and other ridiculous melee weapons, drop boxes, microtransactions, players running through bullets with OP weapons only available by spending money, instakilling everything in their path.

I guess they're testing the waters to see how western players will react to it, and so far the derps enjoy Acti's gentle hands milking their teats to the last drop.

Rumour: This year’s Call of Duty may be called “Call of Duty: WWII”, first artworks leaked online
Quote:
It appears that the next Call of Duty game, that is being developed by Sledgehammer Games, will be called Call of Duty: WWII. From what we know, Sledgehammer will Call of Duty back to its roots, and it appears that its first artworks have been leaked online.

It’s worth noting that the source behind this leak is the same one that also leaked Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare a year ago. Not only that, but the title font appears to be similar to what Activision has been using, so this seems like the real deal.

As always, we strongly suggest taking these artworks with a grain of salt as Activision has not confirmed anything yet.

As the title – and the artworks – suggests, this new Call of Duty game will take place during the World War II era.

Well it'll be nice to see what a next-gen version of some of the larger scale battles in WW2 could look like, Medal of Honor 1 did a very memorable Omaha beach scene but maybe now we can have more than 10 combatants active and less fog? Razz

...Doubt it'll be as good though but it'll look nicer heh well perhaps Call of Duty 2 Remastered would be nice following the earlier Modern Warfare Remastered game although perhaps don't bundle it as some premium DLC for the main game this time?

Japanese front hasn't seen much attention since Medal of Honor 2 Pacific Assault either for a FPS if I remember correctly, island hopping could make for some interesting environments though the modern "AI" will probably make a joke out of the dedicated Japanese troops.
(Some of which were found years later after the war ended, possibly having done who knows what on said island until they were actually discovered and shipped home.)

EDIT: Going by the cover though it'll be USA wins WW2 for the allies. (All on their own.) and their push into Germany I'm guessing. (Probably making the Soviets look incompetent in the process due to political differences in modern times well perhaps not, we'll see.)

Well if they're going to the roots there shouldn't be any kind of kill-streaks, attachments, wallhacks, drones, nukes and all the other bullshit things they've put in the game after CoD2.

That should be more or less CoD1 or CoD2 with modern graphics and so on or they can fuck off with their "going to the roots" marketing bs.

Anyway, haven't we had enough WW2 already? What hasn't been covered by the other billion and one WW2 games? Why can't we have Call of Duty: Ninja Calls?

I have sources close to the game that 100% definitely legitimately really confirm it was actually Advanced Warfare 2 until November 2016, at which point in time they swapped out all of the weapons, textures and campaign missions for WWII themed things. It's been a busy 4 months!

I find that hard to believe. Replacing `campaign missions` is basically replacing the whole game. At which point it's not just replacing.

When is the game due?

Not just that. Gameplay and map design would need to change as well. Advanced Warfare was built around some... advanced things - jetpacks and the like - and maps supported navigation around those abilities. They would pretty much have to build the whole thing from scratch.
The notion that they would scrap an almost ready game with a thought that WW2 setting would prove more popular seems absolutely ridiculous to me. Even if it would provide better sales and they somehow pulled the transition off, I seriously doubt it could offset the wasted resources both in man-hours and assets.
