I know for a fact I'm going to buy the PS3. I decided on it. I've asked EB games to notify me when I can pre-order the item (They'll do it, but I won't pre-order from them, I'll pre-order it elsewhere for cheaper). I've tried watching movies on my PC through my DVD drive. 1080p rox current DVDs. Should I look at picking up a 720p/1080i player or should I just wait and get the PS3?

yeah well DVDs are 480p and HD-DVD are quite uncommon at least here in .eu, so i dunno were your getting 1080P movies, I also highly doubt that 1920*1080 movie would fit on a single DVD-R even dual layer... so i'm not so sure to understand what you are talking about.

Anyway to answer your question i'd wait, I personnaly own a HD TV and an HDMI DVD player and i must say that the difference beteween HDMI and YUV is not big enough to buy a new player...

Just wait and buy an HD-DVD player in a couple of years

In the mean time, the Terminator 2 Ulimate Edition DVD has a WMV 1080p version of the movie on it ... you might want to check that out ... Very Happy

Don't buy anything now, wait untill HD-DVD player are out. And Evil is right btw, the dvds you are watching with your pc are most certain 480p. Get some 720p tvrips, they really look great.

In the meantime, here are some sample wmv hd clips from MS:

Edit:

I totally forgot that you can watch shows in hdtv in Canada anyway, no need for rips then Wink
