Ubisoft just updated the ending of Watch Dogs 2
And it may tease a future setting.

Quote:
Watch Dogs 2 has been updated with a new scene that plays out after beating the game - and some fans think it teases a future location for the series.

The change comes as part of a 10GB patch (14GB on PC) which updates the game's world with new areas, fresh dances and emotes, new clothing and other bits and pieces to prep Watch Dogs 2 for its incoming season pass content.

Everyone gets all the extra content regardless of whether they buy the season pass or not - and a friend can enable you to play through it all in co-op without buying it yourself.

Ubisoft's new ending scene takes the form of a recorded phone conversation and comes right after Watch Dogs 2's final hacker broadcast which summarises the game's ending - so take care watching it below if you have yet to beat the story.

Alternatively, here's the phone conversation in text form:

THERE MAY BE SPOILERS AHEAD:

Quote:
Man 1: How much of this is hyperbole? Has it really gone global?
Man 2: There are new DedSec cells popping up everywhere. The Middle East, South America, Europe. And not just them. We can't even keep up with all the new hacktivist groups.
Man 1: Alright. Make the call.
Man 2: You Sure?
Man 1: Do it.

It's not the conversation itself but its title - a set of co-ordinates - which has fans excited: 51.462014, -0.112504

Tap them into Google Maps and you get... Brixton, London. Could this be the setting of Watch Dogs 3?

Watch Dogs 2's DLC seems to be set entirely in the base game's city of San Francisco, so it seems unlikely to be related to that.

Ubisoft has a history of teasing future Assassin's Creed settings within its game. Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag included a list of possible locations - including the follow-up's French Revolution setting. Watch Dogs 2 even included a tease for an unannounced Ubisoft franchise.

The addition of this tease comes at an interesting time, too. This week, Ubisoft reassured investors concerned about Watch Dogs 2's lower-than-expected launch sales. The game had a "soft" launch, Ubisoft admitted, but it has continued to sell every week. Crucially, the publisher said it was happy with franchise as a whole - something it was unlikely to say if Watch Dogs 3 was off the cards.

Ubisoft has provided some new details and a trailer for the upcoming “Human Conditions” DLC for Watch Dogs 2, which is set to debut next week on PS4 and in late March for Xbox One and PC. Specifically, the new DLC packs in three “new multi-mission Operations to the story,” which includes “new villains to hunt” for Marcus and his crew of vigilante hacktivists in DedSec – including a new ally you might recognize from the original Watch Dogs.

Along with the new story Operations, the “Human Conditions” DLC will also feature plenty of new areas to explore and unique challenges to face, with the debut trailer for the DLC giving an early look at what to expect from “Human Conditions.”

Watch Dogs 2 is available now for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, with the upcoming “Human Conditions” DLC to release on February 21st, 2017 for PS4, and March 23 for Xbox One and PC. In the meantime, you can check out the debut trailer for the DLC below:

I finally took my time and (not without struggling) played and finished the millenial_dogs_rev-2.cpy, acquiring millions of followers and likes to inevitably become the grandmaster 1337 social king of America.
My biggest fear was to be disgusted by the completely revamped tone, with the "next gen" people and their yolo manners, and..I did indeed feel disgust (the apex of the cringe was reached with Lenni, goddamnit Ubi), but in general everything went better than I expected. Everything Went Better Than Expected

As per Ubisoft tradition, the narration didn't provide anything worthwhile and I didn't particularly care for the bizarre suburban characters (dictated by the forced diversity quota® Cool Face), but the more lighthearted atmosphere and approach at least managed to turn the game into a mindless sandboxy toy that can generate moments of hilarity when going for the mass public trolling and causing complete mayhem, or when creating chaos between cops and angry latino gangs, the baiting until there's complete panic and someone inevitably gets accidentally murdered, hands down the best part of the game. Very Happy
No stronk sillinesses were spotted thankfully, only mockery and stereotypes which I actually found quite fitting since the game (unlike WD1) uses self referential humor which does work at times. I found the protagonist to be a reasonable fella despite the annoying swag, more tolerable than one can imagine from seeing him portrayed like some sort of cyber Hipman.
That said, the characters and dialogues more often than not were 2yolo4me, the how do you do fellow kids effect Sad Laughing, like playing and watching alien humanoids living eons away from my universe

Though, the most notable difference here with most of the other recent AAA Ubisofties, is that one can miraculously tell that efforts were put into the gameplay and level design. Nothing too remarkable of course, but the city is actually not useless for once, doing missions generates a surprising sense of variety and exploration instead of the usual Ubichore, and this is perhaps the biggest improvement over Watch Dogs 1, whose structure was as exciting as a funeral of game design. I sticked to the main missions and just a few side ones (on 'realistic' difficulty with a customized HUD), stealth worked - despite not being able to pick up and move bodies, *shame on you Ubi, shame*, the parkour-ish system was fluid, the AI wasn't blind for once and even using the gadgets and alternative methods in general had its charm after one managed to get past the hipsterness of the entire thing. The default yo-yo ball attached to the string though, truly an "iconic" melee system xD

The strictly technical side of the dogs was for me a mixed bag, better than I thought but with the game often looking cheap due to the awkward lighting (still an improvement over WD1's non-lighting), the wonky driving with several cars sharing Midtown Madness 2's physics, the collision system coming straight from the mid 2000s, the bloodyscreensoreal, shooting mechanics far from being satisfying, and so on. Razz
Even the praised optimization from journos wasn't quite there for me, since while it's true that the game didn't make my PC implode on itself like Mafia 3 did, it still required noticeable compromises, including the vaseline temporal filtering that notoriously taints the IQ (otherwise, the poor 970 inevitably choked, no matter the setting used) and occasional stutterfests. On the flip side, mouse and the controls in general felt slick and responsive under every circumstance.

Ultimately, despite all the flabbiness I did appreciate the efforts to boost the fun factor in terms of gameplay, quite unexpected for Ubisoft since their aim usually is to kill the entertainment. (I'd give it a ~7/10). Hoping that the franchise in the future can hit the sweet spot without going full harpdarp (what the Saints Row series did), but it's probably safer to be prepared for the worst already, the introduction of Aiden Pearce to Watch Dogs 2's crew!

Guess I'll play it after I return from Italy. Very Happy

Ubisoft can create a great gameworld and some decent gameplay, but they insist on filling their games with repetitive crap. I hope one day they'll make an AC or FC with proper focus.

Same. It was good, better than WD1, but in the end I got tired of it all. I must have been close to the end though and I had completed a LOT of side activities

Haha exactly. Very Happy If one is annoyed by the silly Ubi rinse-and-repeatedness and wants to complete one of their triple A games (including this one), it's necessary to ignore the uninspired tripe-y side activities for the most part and just focus on pure exploration/experimentation and main missions only. Those tend to repeat themselves (a lot), too, but for me it's the only way to tolerate the deja-vu. I spent "only" 23 hours on the game, which I believe is almost the bare minimum, since I knew that for me wasting more time would have turned the fun into tiring routine.

I recently did the same with Far Cry Primal as well, and in the past with all the AssCreedies and Crys, but generally with any open world game that has problems with side-activities like Mirror's Edge Catalyst, Dragon Age Inquisition (though that one had bigger issues in general), Mad Max, even Batman Arkham Knight suffered from Ubisoftiness. I haven't played MGS5 yet, but judging from the feedbacks it seems tainted by the same flaw among the other things. Without mentioning Mafia 3, perhaps the biggest offender when it comes to repetitive side contents, with the aggravating foolish decision to make them mandatory. I really couldn't finish that one, even though I still tried to. Okay
The only recent titles where I could spend many hours into side-quests without regretting it (on the contrary) were Jensen Divided and Geralt III. Fallout 4 also, but that was because the main quest sucked so badly that I had focus on all the rest instead. Laughing

@Difm: nice, have fun!

Title Update 1.13: Patch Notes

This Title Update is an especially exciting one for us to share with you because it’s the biggest free content update we’ve made to the game thus far, and it includes the brand new Showd0wn PvP gameplay. We’ve received a lot of feedback from you all that you wanted more multiplayer options in the game, and we hope you have a great time with this one.

The patch will be available to download on all platforms Monday, April 17th, with the No Compromise DLC launching on the 18th on PlayStation 4.

New Content

• New Online Mode: Showd0wn – This is a new type of online gameplay for 2v2 PvP matches that can be played with a friend, or through random matchmaking. Showd0wn will feature three types of objectives [Steal the HDD, Doom-load (KotH style), and Erase/Protect the Servers] across 15 distinct locations. This is a great endgame challenge to play with friends, provided you’re not a script kiddie and know how to use all of the tools in your arsenal.

• Online Races – Drone, motocross and eKart races are getting multiplayer functionality! They will also have their own leaderboards, so you can use them to compete for season rewards.

• Loot Truck Event – These armored trucks will randomly appear in the world, offering you a chance to hack them and then defend against the flood of police that will be responding. These will not be easy to rob, but the cash and followers payout is fat.

• Paintball gun – This bad boy will be available in the 3D printer and can stun enemies with a barrage of paintballs. Fun fact: in PvP gameplay your opponent’s screen will be colored in paintball splashes when you attack them.

• New Clothes – 13 new clothing items are available in the various stores, as if you didn’t look fly enough already.

Improvements

• Explosive damage – We’ve improved the effectiveness of explosives for online play. With this update, damage to the opponent is determined by their proximity to the explosion. Standing on top of the IED will end in immediate and embarrassing death, but you’ll suffer less damage if you’re further out when the blast goes off. Check yourselves before you wreck yourselves.

• Leaderboards – Multiple minor improvements to the leaderboard system

Bug Fixes

• “Bio Hacking” blocker – Fixed an issue that was preventing some players from completing this mission.

• Duplicate operations – Fixed a bug that was sometimes causing duplicate operation entries in the DedSec App.

• Key Data – We’ve updated some Key Data units with proper definitions and descriptions on the map.

• Lots of other minor bug fixes and improvements we don’t want to bore you with.

PC Specific – Title Update 1.013.177.1

• Fixed an issue when the game couldn’t be started in Steam after the download with "Launch the game as soon as it`s ready" option turned on.

• Fixed an issue when the San Francisco Fog was displaying incorrectly during rain.

• Fixed an issue when the game launched on laptops with integrated GPU, instead of dedicated.

• Lots of fixes to various minor issues with flickering, reflections, missing textures, windowed modes behavior, UI, text, online game modes, other stuff, yada yada.
