Any Dead Rising worth playing for PC? As in, fun, silly, over the top with some story to follow? Thank ye.

Second game isn't too bad, the re-release featuring Frank instead of Chuck is pretty good too even if it's very similar though with the plot being slightly tweaked.
First game is a bit more serious but it features quite a bit of humor too even if far as I know it's a bit more subtle about it whereas the sequels made it a bit of a bigger thing.
(Though the player can make it a bigger thing in the first game.)
Third and now this fourth game were handled by a different developer and a different engine, PC port of DR3 isn't all that good though the scale of it is pretty impressive using a entire city for it's setting although the mall of DR1 and the casino of DR2 weren't exactly small either.
The first game and the sequel makes far more use of a timer too so you will likely miss some content the first time through, original game in particular is pretty tight with it's time requirement from what I've read but the second game has a number of side stuff too which is easily missable.
All of the games should feature multiple endings too (Unsure about DR4 though.) with various types of both good and bad endings depending on how you do.

I'd say the first one (recently released on Steam) is the best choice when it comes to the balance between silliness and semi-serious atmosphere and gameplay (surely the one I would personally pick), but if you prefer a bigger dose of over-the-top-ness, go with DR2.
The third one is something else entirely, though if you keep your expectations low and have a PC capable of sustaining the horrible port, it has its moments. Can't say about the 4th until I play the isodemo, but the premises aren't exactly good (to put it mildly).

@JBeckman @ixigia
Thanks men, gotta try the second one then. SOLD! (Although the first one with the mall sounds enticing, being a Romero fan & all that jazz - sucks that it has a timer tho, why constrain a mindless fun experience?)

to make you play it more than once and act differently in certain situations/rescue other people than before. I completed DR2+DR2OTR in Coop with my GF more than 5 times each and it wasn´t until the 4th round that i could have said "i did see & do EVERYTHING possible"
Also, its not that you won´t get enough free time to go bonkers without getting your save ruined by the clock, its just something "pushy" that keeps you on the edge.

DR1 44,052 ± 6,184 This is the sad part. Best zombie game.. or at least best DR game is selling very little. Maybe people played it on 360 and are now pc gamers? |
I did my best to like DR1 but there are no craftable weapons and certain other things that make it weaker compared to DR2 in my opinion (maybe the fact that it isn´t as IN YOUR FACE and tries to be semi serious). What defo killed it for me was the fact that it doesn´t have coop, i understand the original didn´t have it either but if you started with DR2, you can´t live without that feature :/

So I just got the game for 13€ ... And I get random crashes every ~10-15 minutes, I'm not doing anything special just running around hitting zombies... Using the steam version btw, anyone know why or knows any fixes?
Maybe I should clarify: the game is not really crashing, its just "freezing" in place, I can still hear sound etc, I just cant do anything ingame until I close it and restart the game..

If closing the game normally works and it doesn't outright crash then it's not a driver reset at least, could try windowed or borderless just in case and see how that behaves.
(Alt-tab might work in fullscreen mode just to reset the window.)
If you do have a gamepad you could try disconnecting that as well if the game gets confused about input and then reconnect and see if it picks it up again but I doubt it's just that.
Third party software is also a possibility but it's pretty complicated what with software from Logitech Setpoint or Corsair CUE to MSI Nehimic or other audio "enhancements" and then OSD's or shader injectors from ReShade to Fraps (Outdated now.) and Afterburner/Rivatuner.
Mostly just suggestions, but that's usually how it goes since there's so much that differs from one system to another.

Dunno, I feel the same about GoW... so, I'm not sure if I can take your word for it.
On a more serious note, I was never much into Dead Rising... these timed kind of games just do not gel well with me. I rather do whatever I want without worrying about time. Use mods to counter it and the game loses its appeal because it was designed around the time stuff.
(assuming all past nr1 still has this going for it)
