Now if only we saw some backlash in sales too maybe EA and the other major companies would try to make good games instead of games that pander to X/YZ crowds
What is "good" though? You can't really make an objectively good game - someone will always be pissed about some element or other. You have to pick a market segment and cater to their needs/desires, usually at the expense of someone else. Presumably their bean counters determined that this approach would provide the best return on investment. I doubt we'll ever see sales figures, but we'll have to wait for an EA financial call in the next 6-12 months to get some indication of how their plan worked out.

Was thinking about TW3 but that was the only recent example I could come up with. And a game like that isn't simply made just like that, and expect it from EA from all devs even less.
Most of the stuff so far seems to point to EA just hoping to make a an easy buck with this game by having some b-team taking on a known brand and waiting for the best.

@djaoni Yes, while I don't mind the answer, a simple "wanting a fresh start" or "how could I not want to explore an unknown galaxy?" -type answer I guess wasn't enough.
That someone mentions it so casually and without incentive to say it, creates the impression that sex-changes aren't rare in this Mass Effect universe. If that person wanted to be a woman, and wanted to explore Andromeda identified as a woman, why even bring up the 'guy he used to be back home'. It seems counter-productive to why he went through the sex-change in the first place. It doesn't make sense to me.

So my initial review was fully justified and I wasn't just jumping on some ridiculous bandwagon eh?
This game is best forgotten as a ME game. Erase that fact from your brain. Instead, see it for what it really is - a diverse dream of a bunch of LGBTQRDIOPDKEPGIB supporters who want to make a game that inserts every possible version of their ideal world as possible. I found it incredibly telling, that the sex scenes had the best animation in the game, right down to the mouth anims when rubbing their faces over each other in an idealised version of sex. THAT is the point of the game. The actual 'game' just took a back seat so these media frenzy clippings were done well enough to be like 'ohh look, edgy naked sex'
EA will be loving this because as was mentioned earlier, people will just buy it, because it's ME. Regardless of the fact it's terrible in every way including performance due to yet more shitty porting, it'll be lapped up by teenage console cretins because duh, sex.
I seriously hope this is a one off, that other publisher can see what's happening here, and are able to avoid it in their own games. Because if they don't, gaming as we knew it, is 100% gone, and will just be replaced by grpahical representations of forced agendas.

While I agree with the essence of what you're saying, why is this thread "comedy gold"? Just to be on the same page.

The reason this game sucks hairy nutballs is because it took no chances and went the safe, boring, diverse, "relatable" way. Where everything is as socially awkward as the awkward creators.
I know I keep coming back to this, but there is TW3 - massive success - and boy, did that still manage to have substance. No way was it just for a minority.
Normal people CRAVE normal games with depth to the game. This is a fucking coloring book for fucked up 12 year olds.
I'm not saying you can't have fun in this. The combat wasn't that bad, but the characters were SHIT. Story likewise, and from what I am reading, it ain't getting better.
Games like Risen, that you mentioned, and games like Technomancer or Mars:War logs - made on probably less than tenth of a budget took more risk and had more SOUL and IDENTITY. And that is the reason, while those games were/are clunky as fuck, I still love them way more than this soulless piece of trash.
And worst of all is, games like these, the big AAA games shape the industry, and that is why I fucking HATE this game, and why this mediocre piece of shit hurts the industry way more, than if they made outright trash. This will pave the way for more SJW shit made for kids.
After this atrocious shit, I'm willing to buy the next 3 CD projekt games for 60 euroes blind, I don't even need to know their names.
