the team's original vision for Dead Space 3 was eroded by the business interests of Electronic Arts
Now where did I read this before
We can replace Dead Space 3 with *insert long list of lobotomized/dead franchises* and the deja-vu effect explodes, such a shame really.
Exactly. These sad stories are becoming boring now. Maybe those devs should learn not to deal with EA if you don't want to make shitty action games with microtransactions etc etc

I'm looking forward to the day when the market is oversaturated with games as service. There should be a peak around 2019.
And then they notice that people only have so much time and money to spend on endless grinding, microtransactions and lootboxes. And then the whole thing comes crashing down
The game series ended at DS2. Everything after that was shoddy fan fiction
well DS3 was very good. I loved the snowy planet 2nd half of the game. Gave me a little bit of The Thing vibes

Executive meddling doing it's thing I'm guessing, not much the devs can do about it either or so I assume or they'd risk getting the project pulled entirely.
So the focus shifted over to a third person shooter with a emphasis on co-op and grinding crafting components. (Or you could just buy them...)
First game was quite good though, second one had it's moments too although both gave you a lot of weapons and other supplies (Second game having those bonus DLC suits in particular.) even early on allowing you to tear through most of the game with ease but that can be fun too and it was never really going for the earlier survival horror gameplay elements in some older games it took inspiration from but had more focus on action though the Ishimura corridors could be a bit haunting at times.
(Isaac here can literally stomp enemies to mush which is even encouraged since stomping even dead corpses provides bonus loot.)
EDIT: Hell the third game even starts out as a traditional shooter against standard enemies before the Necromorphs are introduced.
This is not a crap game, it's just extremely rushed in the later half of the game, lots of cut corners and asset reuse. Coop campaign was fun in my opinion. There are some parts that are pretty cool because of what's on screen is different for each player, but there's very little of that. They could have absolutely done so much more with it if they did stuff like that more throught the campaign.
