my questions :
do your eyes hurt after 1h or 3h ?
how is your nose situated , does it hurt
does this strap hold it , is it to thigh ? do you feel it on your head after 3h?
how heavy is it , does it bother you when you place it on your head ?
what are the max resolution on this device and what are the mhz ? 120 or
is it only a display or are ear peace headphones are in it

nothing hurts when eye distance (IPD) is correctly calibrated
just a carsick feel at first until you get used to VR
it's not heavy (and consumer version will be a lot lighter) but i can feel it on my nose and cheeks after a while
it was a bit tight for my huge nose ridge so i added some padding on mine
 Spoiler:

apart from nose ridge it's all adjustable, and surely more so for consumer version.

no headphones atleast in devkit - res and other deficiencies get fixed in the consumer model - specs of which we do not yet know, other than at least 1080p

i'm not a fucking retard like that guy, but yea, the screen is distorted like that to compensate for the lenses, which wrap it all into your peripheral vision

this all belongs in the other thread though - why did we need another one?

like i said, the lenses wrap that all into your peripheral vision in a 110 degree arc
nothing is distorted when you look through the lenses

But your complete vision is not covered right? How much is covered and what resolution would that require to ensure optimal pixel density (at least).

Carmack admitted in court that he took with him thousands of documents and lines of code he wasn't allowed to, when he jumped ship to Oculus. Laughing

That's a big blow to Oculus. I can't see a judge awarding Zenimax the $2 billion they want, but it seems like they will definitely get some sort of payout now.

Sounds like he took an archive of his emails with him, i.e totally useless information they can use as a technicality to pull money out of facebook. Even if beth win a millions in payout, they still lost carmack and have missed opportunities in VR.

This could happen to anyone really, ultimately they will likely settle out of court for some figure facebook/oculus coudlnt give 2 fucks about. Also what retard doesnt give one of the most famous dev's creative freedom in the workplace.. Says a lot about the company.

There's a difference between creative freedom and ownership of IP. Carmack signed a standard workplace contract and then knowingly violated it.

Let's not overestimate his creativity. He made some efficient engines back in the day - but all his games have been mediocre in terms of gameplay, at best.

To Carmacks defense, i've always thought of him more into the game engine, programming, graphics technologies etc. as opposed to gaming. Turning down a world famous programmer's idea's, not giving him some creative freedom kinda says a lot about a company.

one company's loss another companies gain.

Because you know exactly what happened between them, right? Based on what inside source?

It's a business - and one thing you do NOT want to do as a business is let "creative" people run wild with no limits.

Oh, you're one of those people who think being good at something should give you a free pass, regardless of how long ago you made something of real significance?

pretty sure there is a tidal wave of irony there given your thoughts on star citizen.

Sure, if you can't tell the difference between being employed by a company - and having complete control of your own business.

In any case, let's assume they're the same thing - in your fantasy world - are you saying you agree with me about Star Citizen? Wink

Carmack did have a lot of freedom. I recall him talking about how accommodating Zenimax were letting him continue to play around with his rocket business on the side while he was in their employ. It was clear that a major factor in Zenimax purchasing id was retaining Carmack, so I'm sure he had plenty of leverage to negotiate a favourable deal, and at least publicly he seemed pretty happy with the arrangement initially. Regardless of how that relationship may have soured over time though, there's no valid excuse for violating his contract in the manner he did. There is no doubt Carmack is a genius when it comes to programming, but clearly in this instance he was a fucking idiot.
