An orc who wants to fuck you isn't really problematic, the universe in which the BG games took place is more progressive than our own when it comes to sexuality. People in it don't care who or what you fuck. Or how many of those you fuck at once or per month.
The issue with Dragonspear was really that one trans character. The issue is that it wasn't written as a transsexual character in the Forgotten Realms. It was written as a transsexual character in the real world. This isn't good writing, it's injecting politics from our world into the Forgotten Realms world. A trans character can work in the Forgotten Realms, but it should be written the way it would exist in their world, not ours.
And that's ultimately why that character was such a boneheaded move.

Spot-on Bendi. The most problematic character is certainly the Feminist Liberator, a heroic pale half orcknight of humble origins and weak in willpower points, being forced to listen to the bewitching whinging of his rescuees for the eternity.
Legend tells that if you get ahold of Mizhena's leather scrotum holder, such echoes can still be heard to this very day. "We aren't damsels in distress, we are strong and independent women who don't need no orc!"

I'm slightly optimistic, I think they did learn their lesson with Dragonspear. Amber Scott no longer works there, neither does some other beta white guy 
And it was fun to play BG again, even if it felt like a more polished mod rather than an expansion.

Well after playing through BG2 many times this was the first time I was like "wtf" and was instantly taken out of the game and got reminded that the year was 2015 and agenda is being pushed down my throat.
So I don't know much about the universe but I know about the game, my most favourite game of all time. And got taken right out of it by the character they added.

From what I understand, the credits of Dragonspear lists two people: Amber Scott and Andrey Foley. Both of them aren't working at Overhaul Games/Beamdog anymore.
"Additional Writing" lists Liam Esler, self-described 'Diversity advocate'. He lists himself as formerly working for both Beamdog and Obsidian, so once again not with them anymore.
This might be seen as very good news by most people.
They DID hire David Gaider, which will likely be met with a mixed response.
On one hand, he worked as a designer on BG2, worked on KoToR (HK-47 and Carth), wrote NWN: Hordes of the Underdark and was the lead writer of Dragon Age: Origins. He also wrote some of the companions (like Alistair and Morrigan).
If this is the David Gaider we get, we'll be quite happy.
But he also wrote Dragon Age 2 and Dragon Age: Inquisition. What will probably create some apprehension for people is that the next game by Beamdog will be written by a married gay man who worked on games with gay romances in the past.
All things considered, I'd MUCH rather see him write a new RPG than the duo of Amber Scott and Andrey Foley.
And in the unlikely scenario that anyone here signed up, they might have already seen a NDA being sent. So there's the possibility, as unlikely as this would be, of humpers playing this game in the near future.
Edit: Forgot, he was also the creator of the Ascension mod for BG2.

I believe there will be no problems with gay or trans characters if they're written by competent writers. There was no controversy about Krem from DA:I, was there? And they did tone down that "absolutely everyone wants to polish your hawkepole/hawkecherry" from DA2.
Amber Scott pushed her moronic narrative in a world, where you're a belt away from actually changing your gender and no one cares if you fuck a dragon, demon or celestial for gods sakes. And religion has no time for gay bashing, if you can go to one of the actual Hells for being a douchenozzle murderer, or even worse: an atheist.

Its an Enhanced Edition for PC and Mobile. They might be picking you to test mobile since they tested Steam first.
Edit: I'm referring to the current beta test, not their own future game.
