Deep Silver: We released Homefront: The Revolution too early
Quote:
The publisher of Homefront: The Revolution, Deep Silver, has said that it should have waited to release the shooter.
Speaking to MCV, the firm admitted that the title was ‘less of a success’ than it had hoped, and said that it had learnt a lot from Homefront’s release.
The shooter hit shelves in May to less-than-stellar reviews. It currently has a Metacritic rating of 48 on PS4, 49 on Xbox One and 54 on PC. But since release, Deep Silver says that its developer has improved the quality of the title.
“We have learnt some big lessons from Homefront,” Deep Silver global brand and marketing director Paul Nicholls said.
“You can see in the market at the moment, quality is absolutely king and some big IPs have struggling figures at the moment. We learnt a lot of lessons about what to do going forward. Not just the quality of the product, but when we launch as well.”
He continued: “The team at [developer] Dambuster did a fantastic job, With what the team there has done, getting the product patched and so on, the sentiment with consumers has really turned around.
“We’re getting a lot of positive feedback compared to when we launched, so timing was probably the biggest lesson we have learnt there.”
So, started playing the legit version yesterday. But it seems much more buggy than the isodemo i played back then, wtf.
For example:
- The hit detection is fucking shit. I often don't even realize i get shot at by for example snipers, because i hear nothing, don't feel the shot and the red hit detector is barely visible.
- Often killed enemies spastically jerk on the ground or are flickering.
- My 970 runs so hot (~75°C), even with some reduced settings so i can maintain 50-60fps.
- Enemies spawning and de-spawning after you turn around.
And something else:
- How can you wear more than 1 primary weapon? I'm pretty sure how you can, seeing the radial bar and pressing 3 and 4 has no use (yet).
// Fucking retarded shit. In the city a whole group of enmies spawned just around me.
Of course i lost all the valuables i collected before. Fuck this shit.
weird bugs Bobita ... dont remember anything like that last ime i tried (2 patches ago) , will personally wait for the final and biggest DLC befoe giving it another go as I enjoyed the base "Urban Far Cry" premise and the base gameplay, but these weird bugs are dragging it down even though i can stomach some of them
It was an okayish game.
Story was shit, characters were not interesting or sympathic at all. Never cared when one of them died a comical death. Still facepalming how that dude at the end survived several bullet shots like no fuck was givem though.
Gunplay was not bad.
The weapon customization felt like a quickc sideproject sadly. As it was too cumbersome during combat to change mods or transform weapons to another type.
I just ran with the Battle Rifle and the grenade launcher thing like 70% of the game.
I bought the PS4 version (it was 1/5 of the price , physical disc... 11$ with three dlcs codes )... and this game after patch 1.11 is great ... but those two story DLCs are shit ... each one is 20 to 30 min long ... one tells the events before the game , 20 min dlc ... ... the other is a 30 min long Defend this position and we will spam helicopters at you ... so you can rescue the main resistance Guy that was taken at the game beginning ...
aka dont waste your time on those two dlc ... they add nothing to the story line (the third dlc was a weapons thing called The Revolution Revolutionary Spirit ... meh , one special pistol and a skin for your bike )
for those wondering about those DLC
Aftermath 30 min-ish
The Voice of revolution (DLC that starts before the main game)
and here the lame gun dlc
So to summary it , the main game was great , the DLCs not ... but they added them free with the game ... to make the game better ???
The second American Revolution has been crushed by the KPA occupation forces, and Philadelphia - last stronghold of the Resistance - is about to fall.
In America’s darkest hour, a glimmer of hope appears when a NATO agent makes contact from beyond the city walls with a desperate call for help. They claim to have information that could finally end the occupation - but can the Resistance reach them before the KPA close in…?
Features
Play as Ethan Brady, on a last-chance mission to free America from her nightmarish, totalitarian occupation
Travel beyond the walls of Philadelphia to the rural heartlands of Pennsylvania, the cradle of Independence
Make contact with NATO and discover their daring plan to defeat the KPA once and for all
This is interesting... (so I could play the DLCs even though I have the legit game, just switching over to the pirated variant) but yes, once the DRM is gone it's an easy case. DLC on the 8th shouldn't be a problem then.
