Yeah, just when I regained hope in my country right after explaining someone on another forum that K3 isn't actually a Dutch band, but a Belgian band - a misunderstanding of MASSIVE proportions - I figured I'd figure the US based tourist site of the Netherlands to see what else could be worth seeing here.
Upon entering the rather confusing and rubbish looking site, I stumbled upon Dutch tourist attractions (or lack thereof). It's invitingly called "Tulips, windmills, and more!"... HOLY SHIT!! THERE'S MORE?!?. My brief sprinkle of hope was immediatly crushed upon learning that "more" actually meant "more of the same". I kept on reading. Surely our country would have something to unique to offer.
And I was right. And I quote "The bicycle is a very familiar sight in Holland. Nearly everyone has one, and some people even have two. A Dutchman without a bike is like a fish without water! Holland is the ultimate bicycling country." - Wow. Yes, because surely, an American would spend roughly €700 on a return ticket to the Netherlands, and several thousands of Euros on lodging because said American gets to - wait for it - SEE PEOPLE ON BICYCLES! Amazing!
Surely, this must be a fluke right? Even the Netherlands - shitty beyond belief as it may be - has something to offer besides clinging on to 200+ year old history of people trudging around on wooden shoes taking care of their infamous windmills?
The answer is yes. That was a fluke. For beyold, our country has "churches". Yes. Churches. The same buildings being built in godforsaken towns in the 6th layer of Hell, are apperantly in the Netherlands as well. The only reason I could possibly think of these boring houses of eternal snoredom are being displayed on the main page was because the Netherlands is just about the most atheist country there is - and to us, them churchies be pretty special then alright. But why would an American or, hell, a citizen of Bangladesh be interested in seeing the same kind of building their hometown probably has at least 30 of already? They're all houses of the Lord anyway - and even if that were true, I doubt he'd want to visit His homes in the Netherlands.
The rest of the site was pretty much filled with the same thing. Museums, turnips, "culture", this site had it all. Except no self-respecting foreigner would ever want to visit these places.
The best thing that has happened to the Netherlands is being a co-founder of the European Union. And in the best-case scenario we could be assimilated into one European super-culture. Either that or the alternative best-case scenario that the whole country gets flooded and nobody will be able to live here any more. Either way, tourists will have more fun visiting this country than they currently have.
I can't wait to get out of here.

The Netherlands... well.... no beaches.... no mountains.....shitty weather. As a tourist you will go to see some cities and windmills and some churches, the ride ends in about 3 days, then you'd wish you'd gone to a real sight worthy country like France - Paris or to some nice warm coast like the coast of Greece.

and what to we have in belgium? a beautifull beach (if you come on a sunny day when there isnt alot of people and if you can think all the buildings away and if dirty water doesnt really matter that much for you) |

Recently a few peeps formed "piratpartiet"... They are actually a real deal now and one can vote for them in the next election...
They want to make sure that people can be anonymous on the internet, have the proper rights and not bein spyed on by some dumbass organisation thats tries to stop piracy. Sweden FTW.
