Well if the patch has a profound effect on performance, which I doubt personally, it makes sense to postpone a review. If the patch isn't coming months after release of course. The game should get a mention of technical problems and a 1 point deduction, even if the game is fixed though.

This game deserves same as Arkham Knight got at release for PC.

I bought this ffs on the good promise of the first game. Every studio has one shot at me, until they mess up. These guys messed up. Mouse movement tied to FPS - how in the fucking nine hells did QA not catch this? The fuck is this?

It doesn't make sense if you want an industry that cares about PC versions.

The problem isn't this one case, but the precedent it might set for others. If we start forgiving crappy ports because of a later patch, then it's just the first step towards acceptance of that sort of shit.

If you can't be bothered to spend that extra few days BEFORE release, you should simply live with the consequences.

If not, we'll just start moving the bar lower and lower.

No, it's not, the review should reflect the terrible release otherwise journalists are just encouraging this type of releases.

Mainstream media shouldn't review games as works of art existing in a vacuum though. they are consumer products, so the consumer experience should be a big part of the review grade.

The latest AMD driver is 16.10.3

Mouse improvements, including a fix for sensitivity being framerate dependent
Fixes an AMD cloth physics issue, which impacts framerates at various points in the game
Fixes an issue affecting CPU task priority - the game no longer switches CPU task priority

Miracle hasn't happened yet.

Basically this update does almost nothing.

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

We plan to stay in early access till the end of the year.

Depends entirely on your way of playing it, for me trying to explore and get all the loot and such it takes a bit over a hour per level so far so if the game has 8 main mission areas and some hub stuff in-between that's 10 - 12 hours but it can be finished much quicker than that I'm certain about. Smile
(Well the speedrun record is ~35 minutes but that's the same as the first game, haven't watched them but the record for the Witches episodes are 5 minutes which I have no idea how you'd get through them that quickly.)

Tried the beta patch and it's a big improvement in performance, framerate never drops below 60 in Karnaca in 1440p high settings with a 980Ti. Prior to the beta patch the framerate would occasionally drop into the 30's.
Don't get me wrong, this certainly isn't great yet but I have high hopes for the final update next week. And at least it's no longer a cinematic console experience and definitely playable now.

That's good news! Hopefully, I'll be able to play it normally after next week patch.

Performance was improved for me, but not hugely so. I'd say 10-15% or something like that.

That means I'm finding it playable on Ultra with my 980 ti.

feels better due to less negative acceleration, but still fundamentally the same issues.

the difference between high and ultra for me is 45-60 vs 40-60. medium, low and very low all give me 55-60.

of course, if I disable vsync then it's much worse fps fluctuations, 55-120 on very low vs 40-80 on ultra.

it was the same before the patch. playable, but impossible to set up constant 60 fps in open spaces. always at least one area where you overlook the whole level from a roof or a vantage point, where fps struggles to reach 60 by one or 2 fps at least.

Wonder what the VRAM usage is, far as I've read it can exceed 6+ GB for 1920x1080 alone at it's highest quality level though it should be less when the actual pixel count is several million less. Razz
