I think racing is amazing myself!
Project cars, and iRacing I absolutely love with a wheel and the vive. me and a friend will get on teamspeak and race one or the other (pcars if we want to just screw around iRacing if we want a serious online race) until I cant stand the wear the headset anymore, which is a few hours.
its definitely a niche taste for it. But its easily my top thing to do in the vive.

Yeah already played many hours of elite in vr.
It's not a demo, not a proof of concept, not early access..It's one of the few actual proper full normal games that you can play.
and with steamvr and openVR desktop display portal you can even put windows in your vr cockpit so you can watch a stream while space truckin. it's great
Spoiler:
Likot Mosuskekim, Woodcutter cancels Sleep: Interrupted by Elephant.
Rick and Morty co-creator's first VR game is out now, for free
Quote:
Back in August Rick and Morty co-creator Justin Roiland announced a new game studio called Squanchtendo. Now that studio has released its first game, Accounting, made in collaboration with Crows Crows Crows, the studio formed by The Stanley Parable designer William Pugh.
Accounting requires HTC Vive and a free space of two by 1.5 meters. That's a pretty big barrier to entry, but the good news is that the game itself is free.
What's it about? Well, if its trailer is any indication, it feels very Rick and Morty, with an angry cloud neurotically shrieking obscenities at you for infiltrating his space. After all, just because VR lets you visit virtual worlds, doesn't necessarily mean that the worlds you visit will want you there. This begs the question: If your feelings are hurt in the virtual world, are they hurt in real life as well?
So, i was wondering. Can i isodemo VR games? Or some of them? Like Elite f.ex? (It`s on the buy list, but i want to see if it`s for me Gameplay wise)
I don`t see much releases with VR labels.
elite is an MMO, so not that (even in solo mode the universe is the MMO one, just without players)
but the other singleplayer games, sure
they don't have any "hardware drm" or such - just normal shitty steam/oculus store drm that should be easily fixed
Got Elite Dangerous today, absolutely awesome. Very immersive. Kind of hard at first but it feels worth it when you gain control over things
One thing, i wanted to enable Supersampling via that steamsettings config file trick. However when i open my config file it looks different than the guides... like there`s just a few lines so i get a little unsure of where to place the enablemultiplier line.
Was thinking of trying 1.5x SS to get some of those jaggies out of the way but i don`t understand why my file looks so empty compared to what i see in other peoples settings file?

RIN has recently become the 'VR hub' for all your needs in that regard, lol, although annoying, as I wish a separate section for that stuff. Would make it easier for both
Nah, i`m not going to yarr a lot of VR. I absolutely LOVE the experiences i`ve had and i want them to make more games and the market to grow nice and juicy rich with content and AAA games
I have an Isodemo of Alice VR(the only VR game i`ve seen on my usual pirateship), looks cool but haven`t tried yet.
Probably won`t for a while since i now have decided to become badass in ELITE (Hint: wont happen in any way except in my imagination).
Adr1ft is on sale today btw. 70NOK (I guess 7 americabucks ish)

HTC Vive peripheral lets you ditch wires, move around untethered - yours for $220
One of the big issues with the current crop of virtual reality headsets, including the Vive and Oculus Rift, is that they need to be connected by an awkward wire to a local PC. That restricts both user movement and comfort, and takes away from the whole immersion in the experience.
However, if you’re an HTC Vive user, you can now pre-order a peripheral which lets you ditch the cable, and move around with a greater degree of freedom. Created by a company inside of HTC’s Vive X accelerator, the clip-on device essentially functions as a wireless receiver for all the information the Vive needs.
Crucially, the TPcast peripheral, as it’s known, has very high throughput speed, with a HTC executive saying there’s “no noticeable difference” between the tethered and untethered connections. If that’s true, then this is a remarkable achievement, and will likely become a staple of any upcoming Vive headsets.
In terms of battery life, the peripheral can reportedly handle about 1.5 hours of usage, but there’s a version with a bigger battery planned for the future.
If the TPCast peripheral sounds like something you’d be interested in, you can pre-order one today for around $220, with shipping scheduled for early next year. Those who already own a Vive headset, can write in their serial number on the order, and it will reportedly get prioritized.
It's some nice progress, but people must be aware of the delay added from using this. It adds approximately 15ms of delay, which brings the Vive over the "nausea" threshold. You want to keep it under 20ms to prevent people from feeling ill due to the delay between physical movement and the VR reacting.
The Vive was already a bit high, ranging from 15ms to 25ms. Adding an additional 15ms of delay will be problematic.
This gadget is definitely needed to give a proper VR experience, we need wireless headsets in the future. But people should keep in mind that this wireless add-on is the first generation of its kind and will need more iterations before it becomes polished for common usage.
