So, while i was gaming i got a BSOD.

After rebooting i didn't had a network adapter anymore.
Tried several reboots again and it was the same.

Then i got angry and beat the spot on the mainboard around the network adapter.
Rebooted again and it showed up again.

I guess it's a cold soldering in that region.
Could that be? Or is it some other known Win10 problem?
Mainboard is a ASRock p67 pro3.

Though TBH i somewhat hope the mainboard is fucked, so i can finally buy a better case and CPU. grinhurt
As i can't really be arsed to remove most of the devices, resolder, and then put everything back in again.

Rule of thumb: If reinstalling Windows doesnt solve your problem, its probably the mainboard.

(to take with a grain of salt)

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

had it a few years ago with one of my two ethernet ports. one died after 2 years, other one worked well and the board too. never had any issues. so just grab a pci express ethernet card for a few bucks if it happens again

Not really fun investing in something IF the motherboard is dying, as bob is worried about.

If it happens again i will steal the network-adapter from another PC, and then buy a new mainboard + the other needed things.

Not going to do reinstall of Windows though, as i doubt it's because of that. Very Happy

Also i have no Fury porn, only some Rough ones.

This is when I love hairdryers Smile

Remove board and heatsinks/plastic shit, heat with said item at 5-8 inches, back and front. Let the board get hot, but not so much that one cannot touch, spend a good 15 mins doing so, then let it cool (preferably overnight), then do same again, leave to cool.

Test. If same, then fucked, replace.

You have nothing to lose Wink

@scaramonga
I have soldering equipment anyways, so no need to use an oven or hairdryer. grinhurt

But as i wrote: I don't really have time nor the mood to remove the board and the other crap blocking the removal and then re-install everything again.

I hope it won't fuck around again till Kaby Lake is out. As i might as well go from my ancient 2500k to the latest series.

Yeah I know the feeling buddy Smile Many a time I've caught a cold joint and cured it that way though, not just motherboards, lol, but as you say, it is time consuming and a complete PITUA!

Here's hoping it holds out till your upgrade
