Yup, was massively disappointed. Couldn't even force myself to finish it.

Dragon’s Dogma Online May Be Released West Once A “Solid Foundation” Has Been Established In Japan
Quote:
In Capcom’s latest annual report, on page 54, director Kento Kinoshita outlined how the team will proceed to improve the game in its Season Two, which has been just launched in Japan. The team is not stopping with the second season, however, and are already creating the Season Three framework. More importantly for Western players, Kinoshita states that he would like to consider bringing the game overseas once they have established a good foundation in Japan.

We released version 2.0 in June 2016 (the first stage of Season Two), but are moving ahead without a break to simultaneously create the Season Three framework. The world of online games spreads ever outward. Once we have established a solid foundation in JapanI’d like to consider bringing this game overseas, where there are a great many online game players.

While it’s far from a confirmation, the fact that Dragon’s Dogma Online’s director is at least considering the possibility is definitely good news. Everything seems to ride on how well Season Two and possibly Three will go, so let’s hope things proceed as smoothly as possible.

Fucking japan devs again. Laughing
Seriously, are they that retarded to not realize their is a big demand for the game? Well, probably not that much anymore after all those months the game is already running in japan.

@h0rnyfavn
Well, it's a true MMORPG.
And from what i read in the past: Yes, it seems to be pretty good.

@h0rnyfavn It's pretty good yeah (played it only a few hours). Exactly the same in gameplay to dark arisen. Hubs join the world by loading screen to large open areas and once your out there it's basically the same old good stuff dd is known for.
Some of the new abilities and classes seemed really good too. If you thought the mage spells were epic in dark arisen the endgame mage stuff in this will blow you away Laughing

Only stopped playing cause of incomplete translation.

read some japanese player reviews and a lot of em weren't happy with it.
seems there's a lot of grinding unless you pay for convenience features.

the usual f2p problem

Still, it's more dragon's dogma and multiplayer so I'm sure it'd be fun for a while at least.

I started as a mage and hated it after 10 hours. Even tho they are really cool and destructive all of his spells take forever to charge. 90% of the time you play as mage is spent finding good isolated spot where nobody will interupt you and holding 1 button for 10+ seconds... Pawn are too unreliable for taunting and keeping you safe. Maybe it will be much different when you play with other people.

After playing solo (without any pawns) with a Magic Archer and Assassin I really began to love the battles.

Your end game equipment matters the most. If you don't have a good end game gear and decent build, even a level 70 character will crumble. What is your current vocation, stats and weapons? Have you completed Everfall dungeon? Defeated Ur Dragon?

The game was updated, no changelog yet but going by the Steam forums there's improvements to the overall visual quality from textures, lighting and shaders.

https://steamcommunity.com/app/367500/discussions/0/1519260397799959217/?ctp=7

Also includes Japanese localization now.

EDIT:

Quote:

We’re checking with the dev team on the change list. The team had to make some last minute changes to the PC patch.

Fixes/updates include Traditional Chinese text localization support and bug fix for the Inflection ability. Equipping Inflection normally halves the severity of wounds you sustain whilst intoning spells, but it appears a bug was introduced in the Xbox 360/PS3 where it doubled the damage instead.

In any case, we’ll post a patch note once we have all he details. Stay tuned Arisens!

I feel like this is just to see how people will react to gather investments (and raise stocks) and they have not yet even began working on the game. Probably 4 years from now, at best. Sad

That's a good choice on paper. The game had many interesting ideas and even moments of brilliance with its extra-dynamic combat system, but the barren world/repetitive quests and the cheesy writing dragged the experience down for me. I hope these aspects can be improved while keeping the game's identity intact.
