Not sure why it would stop you from playing it though?

Really sad. RIP.

This is a reason to play this game, not the opposite.

Where did I state I wouldn't? I meant to say that it figures that one of the few indie devs that made something I like the look of, ends up dying.

"that I was really looking forward to playing". You were looking forward to it. But nevermind, i was thinking later that you probably just expressed it wrongly.

Yet another patch:

Code:
Enhanced Version: Hotfix update 5 (Windows + Linux)

Hey!

We’ve got a new patch for Dex, with way too many fixes to list here, but here’s a few of the main ones:
Hacking difficulty indicators in AR, based on your current skill level
A bug causing controls to stop working when entering Georgij’s shack
Smoother zoom
Added some tooltips to the Trading screen
Other user interface improvements
Multiple gameplay and AI fixes

Completed the Enhanced edition last night. took me a little over 15 hours.

Fantastic game. Now I understand why people are sad Jan Jirkovský died. I though he's just a cog in the wheel, not deserving extra merit, but what could have been a simple platformer/brawler, he turned into a indie sci-fi, genre hybrid gem, that as a whole, surpasses the worth of its individual parts.

Dunno where to even start. The soundtrack is absolutely brilliant. Every single song just fits in, gets the adventurous blood pumping, enhances the scene it's covering. the 2d art was phenomenal as well, with screenshot worthy scenes all over the place. It's been a while since a 2d game has immersed me so much. Never have I felt "oh look, shitty indie graphics that take you out of the game".

The exploration is definitely one of the best features. outside of the intro and the end, the game is completely non linear. you can go everywhere and do every single side quest at any point you wish. and there's a ton of variety. platforming, fighting, stealth, puzzles of all sorts, multiple approaches, skill check based stuff. It beats a ton of pure rpg's at their own game.

The skill tree is fantastic as well, really affecting how you play the game. I focused on hacking enemies then choking them to sleep.

Then there's the hacking mini game. sort of an asteroids/geometry wars type of shoot em up, with a few weapon varieties and enemy types that always provide a challenge.

The story and lore were great as well; a mix of shadowrun, the matrix, blade runner and many more sci-fi staples, always spiced up with nice convos and sci-fi philosophizing. apart from a few cheesy cutscenes, it was all well done in the style of thief 1/2 cutscenes.

This is one of those games that at no point do you notice that this was actually a job done for the money. it never shows, always feeling like a work of art created out of love and to be shared. that's rare these days for me, no matter how good an AAA game is, you can always peer through a tiny crack and see profit maximization at work. it really takes a good team of craftsmen to hide that from plain sight.

8.3/10

would be an 8.7 but the occasionally clunky melee/ranged/stealth, that is partly inherent to the 2d approach, are tiny flaws in this game, but they do need to be noted.

Congrats for finally getting into the game and finish it.

Shame that Jan is gone and we won't probably see whatever he had in mind for DLC's. We'll be probably stuck with that Outfits DLC's and that's it. And i doubt that the studio can replicate Dex in the future.

P.S.: i blame Sabin for getting this little gem Twisted Evil

Well said Very Happy
An underrated (and generally underlooked) gem that blows you away with its perfect blending of cyberpunk atmosphere and varied gameplay, one of my favourite games released in the recent years. It's almost magical really, and pretty deep too considering the somewhat 'limiting' 2D nature. (I imagine it's even better now after all the patching)

Unfortunately it's indeed destined to remain a one-time-only miracle. The company had this other project successfully funded a while back, which is completely unrelated though (and kinda generic-ish..mostly for the VR bandwagon): http://en.dreadlocks.cz/games/ghost-theory/

Damn, how I missed this? Anyway, 2 question before I buy it (it's 5$ on GOG!):

1. Playable with mouse+kb?
2. Someone on GOG mentioed game breaking bug with the GSV-2 Hacking level. Really that bad?

If you could have found a cheap Steam key it would have unlocked for free on GOG as well via their GOG Connect program as Dex is one of the games they just added.
