If you like this game then buy it, really. This one deserves it and I dont think there is any other game right now similar to this.

I remember playing this when I was a child, great game and cant wait for Cossacks 3. Smile

Buy buy buy. Maybe GSC will get more assets from the sales for STALKER 2. Or Sergey will buy himself a LaFerrari from the cashflow.

There are some reviews:

Though most of them are in russian, and you probably won't see them.

Also the Steam reviews are shit it seems. I don't see any reviews either when scrolling down.

Speaking of formations, they're so messed up. Any time you move a group they totally break formation until they come to a stop and you order them to reform. It's like playing with armed mobs rather than trained soldiers.

At the first glimpse I'm not impressed, the game carries the nostalgia of older RTS, but with that all their problems as well. The combat is so meh, nothing like we've seen in those initial videos. Dozens of units clump up to hit 1-2 units in Age of Empires style, I hated that back then, now it's 2016, I expect some more. The gameplay is quite slow paced, as expected, but could have been much faster and smoother if the interface had a proper design and the units controls were better.

A review from someone on steam...Pretty much sums up what I've read in other places:

Quote:

I was hoping for a new, fun Cossacks game. In reality, though, my expectations were lower, and I figured I'd end up with a slightly modernized remake of the old titles, with a few added improvements for modern machines.

Instead, I got a weak Unity rebuild that looks more like a high school project than a professional product.

Unit animations are limited, while pathfinding and collision mechanics are dysfuntional, with ships on land and formations that leave two or three soldiers marching in the wrong direction.

Graphics are terribly static, aside from the rather wooden units. The maps are smaller than expected, with units moving slowly and having tiny range to compensate. Everything feels like sprites instead of 3d models, and not particularly good ones at that.

Sound quality is especially bad. Music loops and overlaps itself. Drummers and officers are silent, instead of classic drumbeats and shouted orders. Muskets and cannons sound like firecrackers.

Localization is poor. Some unit names are still obvious placeholders, the campaign description read like Google translate, and either there is no documentation or I haven't been able to find it, either through Steam or in the game's folders. So unless you already know the difference between Prussian and Austrian units, you're not going to find out now.

Playtesting seems almost entirely absent. Ships on land. Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V allow you to literally copy-paste entire armies in the campaign and random maps. Unit highlighting is inconsistent, and anything behind a building is invisible.

I bought this expecting a less-than-stellar rehash of an old game, and was still disappointed.

I was secretly hoping this could do well, in order to raise the chance of seeing a new Stalker from 0.1% to 0.2%, but from the sound of it.. Sad Laughing
