I also just had a horrible foot pain.
Had to stay home for 2 days. As I went to a hospital to get the foot xrayed, it took me close to an hour to walk 600 meters.
I had to keep my feet in a very weird angle not to have much pain. (I had to avoid touching anything with the outer blade of the foot.)
in the end -> nothing was found... pain went away in 4 days.
And I have no idea either what caused it. I simply woke up with a massive pain.

Lazyness is the thing You will regret. Go see/call a doctor!
Doctors are not that helpful nowdays but they can sort out the bigger problems quite well. Just insist on not to prescribe drugs. And make sure NOT to behave like a patient! You're not patient with Your problem, thats why you're there, you want the problem to go away as soon as it possible. Ask as much as you can, since in the end its your leg and your problem. Don't be satisfied with the "here is a medicine, take it" method. Find out as much as you can.

maybe you got bitten by a bug, go to the doc if you experience insect cravings.
Yeah, well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
