It's just a free fan-made MP game using some of the assets of the existing games. Nothing to be excited about (IMO).

No sarcasm at all(!), honest(!) I'm really glad we get to see Timesplitters running at 20fps(!) It's going to be amazing having to turn down every single setting just to get a smooth, MP/competitive framerate(!)

And that's without textures, physics and player models

Maybe the game is running on a laptop. Just saying (haven't watched the video).

It could be, it's even running in DX9 mode according to the vid. Still - why do a showcase of a project you're working on and use terrible hardware specs to do it?
Because "It's just a free fan-made MP game using some of the assets of the existing games. Nothing to be excited about (IMO)."
Hobbyist devs working on something free, they put little thought in many things, chances are they will never finish it anyway (most mods, especially most elaborate mods, are not finished).

Looked like it might have been running inside the editor which could also explain the lack of performance. I wasted a lot of my life playing timesplitters on the GC, looking forward to a sequel, even a fan made one. Good luck to them!
Actually, from what I've heard; Crytek UK (Free Radical) are also helping out on the project.
This stems from this veeery vague bit from an interview:
Quote:
Are any of the original TimeSplitters staff involved at all? Have you contacted the original voice actors for help with the project?
Some are, but as for the voice actors – that’s something that we are going to discuss with Crytek later on in development.
Crytek UK's "support" is probably on the level 3D Realms / Gearbox "supported" Duke Nukem Reloaded; they saw some concept art and told them "great!"
The modders are so much "supported" by Crytek, they have multiple TimeSplitters mods in the making (oh oh..) and one of which has been "banned" by Crytek (lol).
Quote:
So you may not realise this but we have more than one TimeSplitters project on the go.
Petition founder, Dan Wesoly is also working on a TimeSplitter mod for Unreal Tournament2004. The bad news is that Crytek have brought down the ban hammer on this project.
TimeSplitters Rewind is still going to happen but we now need some support to get the green light for our other project.
I have a UT2004 TimeSplitters mod trailer being release this evening! as some of you may know, Crytek have in other words said I cannot release the UT2004 mod to the public. Hopefully this trailer coming up later today will change their mind! ( This is not to be mistaken with TS:Rewind! ) - Dan Wesoly

The project is still alive, though the full release still seems many years away:
Quote:
I suggest to Steven that another industry trend working in Rewind’s favour is the acceptance of Early Access and staggered release structures as a norm. “Yeah, absolutely. Considering the project size that system works really well for us,” he said. “We can release an initial selection of multiplayer levels, listen to fans, take it onboard, then release further levels, slowly building up a community and generating more and more excitement for each release”. Steven estimates that the project is about 20% complete so far, but under the early access structure that won’t stop a playable version of the game from appearing soon.
