The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.
I think TotalBiscuit made a very good point on Watch Dogs 2 (and just the IP's formula in general) ... or rather this was what I was thinking when he was tired of seeing the new character be a "jack of all trades and master of everything" yet again. What if you played a character that was just a hacker and couldn't use guns and barely able to fight people melee. What if you played a character that had to rely on their wits and sneak around using hacking and nothing else.
Is it racist to say "I'd consider playing this if there was an option to have the main character be white"? I mean, I feel that playing a black guy would break my immersion, in the same way as playing a girl breaks immersion or playing as a muscular-but-braindead character breaks immersion (and I also avoid such games).
Yeah but due to all this talk about racism and gender bias and whatever floating around, I'm now programmed to feel a bit of guilt or shame when I say stuff like that. It's kinda sad.

No it means you're tragically short on imagination and will consequently miss out on a lot of amazing games.
Personally, I don't really care about color of skin - but I do care about playing someone I can identify with.
For instance, I disliked playing CJ in San Andreas - as I felt unable to connect with that environment, and I really have no interest in the whole 'Niggas in da hood crap. I felt like a complete stranger in that game - even though I was supposed to be a part of a family.
Interestingly enough, I felt the most connection with Franklin in GTA V - as I hated the other two characters. Franklin was essentially a decent and likable guy, even if his environment was much the same as in SA. He was just the most appealing character - and "Da Hood" wasn't as big a part of the game as it was in SA.
But I do prefer playing a white character, simply because it's easier to identify with someone who looks more like myself. Shallow, perhaps, but that's the way it is.
I always play a variation of myself in games - and it's very important to me that I don't feel a disconnect with my avatar. For that same reason, I have a difficult time adjusting to female characters - and when I'm forced into it, I tend to feel less like a participant and more like a spectator.
For instance, when I play Tomb Raider - I don't see myself as Lara, I see myself as a witness.
Watch Dogs 2 will not feature Ubisoft's map-unlocking towers
Quote:
Watch Dogs 2 won't feature the map-unlocking towers familiar to players of Ubisoft's open world games.
Towers have been an integral part of progression in Assassin's Creed, Far Cry and even The Crew, and the original Watch Dogs used a version of them to allow for exploration around its version of Chicago.
However, speaking to Eurogamer, creative director Jonathan Morin has confirmed that Watch Dogs 2 is making a break from the UbiTemplate: "It's not a game where you open your map and everything's there. There are no towers. You just explore the world."

who cares what others think? You like playing as a white character then that's that.
