I can't get my pc to to select the 38xx resolution on my new lg 49 inch 770v tv?
I right click the desktop in windows 7 and it only supports 1920 resolution?
Any ideas how i can select the 38xx res as my gfx card and tv support it?

you need to set it to 30hz to be able to use 4k res cause you dont have hdmi 2.0 on your gfx card.

to use it @ 60hz you need a good displayport (or minidp, depends on your card) to hdmi 2 adapter (the cheap ones dont support 4k@60hz cause the female hdmi output still sends a signal identified as hdmi 1.4)

I thought something like that as well, but shouldn't windows allow 4k to be picked, while automatically reducing the refreshrate to something supported? It sounds like he can't select it at all.

No, because the refresh rate set dictates the resolution options displayed.

For me it has always worked how Nui described. You set the resolution and refresh rate gets set to whatever is considered "optimal" or is available for that resolution. Normally it's the resolution that limits the available refresh rates, not the other way around.

In NV/AMD control panels you can usually change both at the same time. If you set the resolution in Windows settings there is no simple way to even choose the refresh rate (it's buried in the more advanced settings), so limiting available resolutions with that option hidden wouldn't make sense.
