Supposedly the Reaper of Souls update fixed a lot of the issues people where having with the gameplay.

Sadly those "fixes" come with a price tag. And still invasive DRM. Sad

Yes, I am very gratefruit that the utterly broken[1] game I bought took well over a year to get patched into something properly playable because Reasons™[2] and can be completely fixed by another €40 patch almost 2 years after it was released

Thank you based Blizzard.

[1] Broken in terms of stability (numerous crashes and shitty servers) and gameplay (dat loot "system" and dat "balance").
[2] Reasons™ being "Console port development", which coincidentally did get an offline mode so one didn't have to rely on servers powered by exhausted, underfed hamsters. Nor did that have an AH of any sort. Hmm.....

I can understand why Runic won't do one, there's too many people who still accepted Blizzard's bullshit on the PC. Doesn't mean I have to like it though, I'd buy multiple copies of TL3 just to feel better about the money wasted on D3.

Yeah hence the reason why I don't have it and only heard it's "ok" now from those on my friends list that still play it.
Not going to shove another 40 euro to them for D3, rather waste it on HS packs Laughing

Anyone here still play this? I have played it a lot, but never actually owned it. I was thinking of getting a couple of copies for my son and I, so that we can play it when he is here and when he is at his mum's house.

Does it still have an online community?
Can we still play when he is not here (non LAN of course)
What exactly does the online content consist of? I assume it's like Diablo 3?

Thanks

Yes,it still has people playing. Not as many as after release but still, you can find MP games or have people join without waiting too long.

Ofc,you can play with him when he is away, the game uses Steamworks for MP.You can host a private session for friends only, password protect it and/or invite via Friendlist.

The online content doesn´t differ from SP afaik, you can play campaign or those "treasure maps" which you have to buy ingame

You answered my questions, thank you.

Anyway, I bought it for us both and we have linked nicely. Just need to find a mod (if it exists?) to sort out the awful chat font...

People still play Grim Dawn? I expected most to realise how dull and repetitive it was after a month or two Smile

You are right, however, I think that applies to all the games mentioned in this thread. I mean I play Diablo 3, season after season. But often wonder why exactly, they all become dull after the shiny newness has worn off.

All I can say is that when I'm in the mood for this kind of game, Diablo 3 still works - years after release.

No game can last forever, naturally, but both TL2 and GD bored me after a few weeks.

I still remember the lavish praise heaped upon TL2 - and then everyone went quiet and seemed to forget about it after the first two weeks.

Same seems true for Grim Dawn.

Maybe I'm wrong though, and everyone is playing them in secret Smile

Are you seriously complaining about repetitiveness in this genre? Laughing

No, I'm not complaining about anything.

But you're missing the word "how" - as in there's actually a difference in just how repetitive these games can be.

Here's a clue:

The more repetitive, the sooner they grow stale.

I like them all about the same, but can't play any of them for extended sessions. They are nice games for quick 30 minutes sessions when there's nothing else to play, but after that I'd say that they get tiring to play equally fast.

Cool, fair enough.

It used to be one of my favorite genres - and I've played Diablo 3 for hundreds of hours.

That said, I feel I've had my fill of the genre for the time being. Not enough innovation - and too many nostalgic throwbacks for my tastes.
