So CPY release really doesn't work? I'm too lazy to install NWN2 now just to try this release out. It seems strange that they cracked tages with drm on still life 2 but somehow "missed" DRM on this expansion.
From how I've understood it the addon uses a simple serial check during installation CPY passed this with their serial number and probably so does anyone else who uses it during installation.
There's a additional check when you choose the module during the campaign screen before you can play and this seems to be what causes problems as the initial attempts passed but now it seems this serial has been blacklisted (Or what it's called.) so during verification it'll be rejected.
Unpacking the module files might be possible but they might also be protected in some way so totally removing the protection might not be possible aside from totally cracking the module files or whatever file enforces the cd-key verification.
thanks, ill have to have a look to see if i can find a fix then cos im running the enhanced version too, maybe there is a update i dont have or something
Can anyone PLEASE upload the registry key from NVN2 so i can install this adventure pack? Reinstalling takes ages
"hkey_local_machine \software \obsidian \Neverwinter Nights 2\NWN2\Neverwinter"
Thanks
Oo nevermind, i edited it manually and it worked, duh
A Naïf In Neverwinter Nights: Exploring Roleplay In An Erotic Fantasy Server
Quote:
Role-play has always been a curious concept to me despite spending half of my life believing it was little more than adults wearing fake armor and speaking in phony English accents. When I became obsessed with pen and paper RPGs, I forced three of my friends to try Dungeons and Dragons. Our awkward adventure was akin to four naive boys going on a journey, finding a dead body, and then never talking about it ever again.
But last week I discovered that Neverwinter Nights, the classic 2002 RPG, is not only still popular but also home to dozens of serious role-playing servers. Digging deeper I found that many of those servers are “adults only,” hinting all too plainly at what kind of desires they catered to. I couldn’t resist. What could this virtual Sodom have that was so compelling that people would spend time in a decade-old RPG just to experience it?
Nothing new there, there were dozens of adult-only mods on the old Neverwinter-Vault IGN website before it went down and that included persistent world packages for servers hosting their own content.
Neverwinter Nights 2 never really caught on but it had some "interesting" mods as well.
(There are some genuinely awesome content for both games but I do not know how much survived when the IGN "Vault" pages went down forever.)

Improved Display: Your portrait, combat bar, inventory, and other UI elements adjust in size based on your chosen resolution including 1080p and 4k.
Advanced Graphics Options: Pixel shaders and post-processing effects make for crisper, cleaner visuals. Enable contrast, vibrance, and depth of field options as preferred.

Backwards Compatibility: Works with save games, modules, and mods from the original Neverwinter Nights. A galaxy of community created content awaits.
Nice to see some improvements, though it looks pretty minimal although at least you can skip on using some mods for the game now.
Perhaps there will be a more complete list of changes closer to release?
EDIT: Doesn't include the premium modules either?
(Not that they were really all that great compared to the two actual expansions but a few of them were OK.)
Jesus, this has to be their most pointless release yet. It basically looks no different (and if there was one game really screaming out for a visual overhaul, it was NWN). The OC was complete garbage, and no amount of "enhancement" is going to change that. The main value in NWN was its toolset and 3rd party worlds/campaigns. I'd be unsurprised if this version is incompatible with any of those still running. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if they gut that whole aspect of it altogether.
Edit: Reading their press release, it sounds like a UI mod for the Diamond Edition, which they are chucking on Steam and selling for twice the price. As far as I can tell, the models and textures are untouched. Fucking hell, this really is the most bullshit phoned in scam job they have pulled to date.

Pretty much exactly what i thought, although the xpacks are way better then the terrible campaign of the main game (well at least Hordes of the Underdark is) and worth a playtrough.
Yeah the comments on that Youtube video also point that out.
The press release also seem to indicate that it's mostly UI tweaks and then for the graphical tweaks there's well not much really and seems to be color and saturation adjustments and for DOF I guess it's a simpler background blur effect.
Hadn't checked the pricing, guessing it's better to pick up the complete version of the game from GOG if Beamdog isn't going to be doing much else with the game. Either one should also work just fine with the existing mods from smaller overrides to full new campaigns.
I would think they will get the GOG version pulled once their version is released, just like with their previous EE releases. I'd suggest to anyone considering it, keep an eye out for the Diamond Edition (currently $10) going on sale in the next month or so, rather than pay $20 for the EE. Or just pirate it. Fuck Oster, fuck him right in the ear.
Weren't there thousands of portraits on for example Neverwinter Vault and other sources over time? Then again it's easy money from people wanting to support the company I guess.
EDIT: Ah I see from the main page for the actual game that some of the premium modules are DLC again too, Wyvern Crown for example.
Some of the fixes and enhancements sound pretty good at least, changing OpenGL 1.x to 3.x for one thing but also bug fixes and improvements to other aspects of the game so not as bad as it initially seemed though the game looks pretty much the same so no texture or model work.
(Segmented for life! )
(Well the various "physics" mods will be easily ported over I guess..cloth physics of course ha ha yeah as if that's the only thing.)
Well if nothing else, you have to admire the sheer fucking audacity of repackaging a game virtually untouched and selling it for twice the price it was a week before with a straight face.
Eeeh it's a tough one for me. I tried playing it a few months ago on my Windows 8 PC and it crashed on start which seems to be a common problem. With some trying I got it to run but the UI is TINY on a modern screen. And I do mean TINY. Absolutely unplayable. I had to lower resolution drastically and then of course it became all fuzzy. So I installed it on my old laptop from 2008 instead because that had a 1280x800 screen. If they fix all this and make it run better on modern systems, I don't think it's a wasted opportunity. The price will drop anyway with time.
