check the top right profile thingie Wink You can select commanders and skins for skrimish there ... in previous crack it didint work at all

Yeah, I can see that no problem, but, how do I see I have the meat of the DLC unlocked, IE; The British Forces? I am probably being a spaz after only having 3 hours sleep last night and feel extremely grumpy. But I want to beat up some Germans!

OK, as I said, not played in ages. My OCD kicks in when I can't see what the fuck DLC I have Sad . Don't get me started on worrying about missing ONE DLC on Crusader Kings II or EUIV.. Crying or Very sad

When I started playing games in the 80's and 90's. You bought a game, played it and that was it! You bought the fucking game! You did not buy a part share of it and then paid more for stuff that should have been part of the bloody game in the first place! Whoever first thought of DLC (EA?) may they rot in hell.

Sweet. The commander drop stuff was absolute horseshit. Never got a single one I wanted so I stopped playing.

+1 hate the DLC culture
And now with this new crack you have if almost superiour version than legit (dont really care about MP)
and thats why i got worried when i read relic has 5 year content plan with it aswell as I am worried with TW: Warhammer which is supposed to have 10 year content plan and the "D" on top of that Very Happy

DLC existed in the 90s but were marketed as "expansion packs." Diablo 1 had that expansion pack. Those were just as evil and could have been added into the base game. And some of the assets were even in the game when released.

Diablo's expansion wasn't just some shitty little DLC. It added a lot of stuff and was even developed by another company. (it was a third party expansion)

My point is, there were games where assets were coded in back in the 90s....similar to how DLC is done today (i.e. harpoon gun in Fallout 4)

I've started re-playing this game recently and had gotten the master collection edition or something like that, that includes all the DLC etc. However I noticed today that for example the british only have the 3 basic commanders. Anyone knows of any way to add to the game or unlock the rest?

Master collection on sale at the moment on Steam...£7.49, not bad I think...then I see that you have to purchase an extra five bundles of skins and commanders to get the complete package...FFS.

DLC, I hope there's a special circle of hell for the implementers.

It's a steal, really. There is so much singleplayer/coop content, some good and some not so much, to last you dozens of hours. If you are into the competitive aspect, the playerbase is surprisingly healthy. The multiplayer is way more balanced then it was back in the day and it has that spectacular CoH gameplay that you can't really find in any other RTS/RTT hybrid.

COH2 was a flop. They had a thriving COH1 community years and years after the original game dropped including monthly events, etc. Then after the second game ostracized a lot of the hardcores and it haven't been the same ever since.

CoH 2 had a rough start but it has recovered over time. Anyway, it's unfair to make comparisons with CoH which was released when strategy games were still a thing.

Yeah, no doubt about it, but the rough launch of COH2 didn't help. The community imploded after a couple of months and players migrated to other games like Starcraft 2 and Warhammer. The interest was there, the execution was flawed. Sega and Relic could've done a better job. Look at Paradox and their grand strategy games. They have a hardcore following and they do a good job at preserving it.

It's much easier to keep players interested in strategy games focused on singleplayer. Also, I don't think Paradox and their milking business model is an example we want other devs to follow (I'm not saying SEGA is not milking their games Laughing ).
Company of Heroes 2 multiplayer component is extremely important and that's what was supposed to keep players interested in the game. But the multiplayer was a mess at release. However, the game has been extensively patched and the player base is extremely stable right now. There are a few thousand players active every day.
