Like the films, the TV version centers on a Texas cop and former Navy SEAL Martin Riggs (originally played by Gibson) who, following the loss of his wife and baby, moves to Los Angeles to start anew. There, he gets partnered with LAPD detective Roger Murtaugh (Glover), who, having recently suffered a "minor" heart attack, must avoid any stress in his life.
Fox's take will be written by Matt Miller (Forever, Chuck), who will executive produce via his WBTV-based Good Session banner. Lin Pictures' Dan Lin (The Lego Movie, Sherlock Holmes) and television topper Jennifer Gwartz are set to exec produce. Lethal Weapon reunites Miller with Lin, who teamed for last year's ABC drama Forever, which was canceled after one season.
Key to the reboots is having the original producers involved, which for Fox's Lethal Weapon, is not the case. However, sources tell THR that the original filmmakers have blessed the TV reboot though they will not be credited on the drama.
They will make a pilot.

I saw things like that in here and in other "woman problems" topics so...... Am I the only one that thinks some authorities needs to be alerted about Saner and him possibly being a rapist and/or kidnapper ?
Saner is not being serious. Unless its the subject of Santa!
What the fack is wrong with the entertainment biz these days? Upload the past to be cash-cow relevant for the future? This is a pandemic of unoriginality!
So when is that Love Boat, Dukes of Hazard, Hardy Boys, A-Team TV reboots? Seems the cycle is becoming shorter and shorter.

Damon Wayans has been set to star as Roger Murtaugh, the role made famous by Danny Glover, in the upcoming TV series reboot of the "Lethal Weapon" franchise on FOX.
Wayans, who was a regular on FOX's sketch comedy show "In Living Color" many years ago, is set for the role after a prolonged dealmaking process. With that now in place, the project has received a formal pilot pickup.
Warner Bros. Television is producing the project in which former Navy SEAL Martin Riggs suffers the loss of his wife and baby, and moves to Los Angeles to start anew. There, he gets partnered with LAPD detective Roger Murtaugh (Wayans Sr.), who, having recently suffered a 'minor' heart attack, must avoid any stress in his life.
The key role of Riggs, played by Mel Gibson in the films, has yet to be cast. Matt Miller ("Chuck," "Forever") is executive producing the series alongside Dan Lin and Jennifer Gwartz.
Following a successful pilot, a full series has been ordered, and will form part of the Fox network’s 2016-2017 line-up.
Quote:
Clayne Crawford, a character actor perhaps best known for a recurring role on post-apocalyptic TV series Jericho, will be playing Riggs, the role originally played by Mel Gibson, while Damon Wayans Sr. will be stepping into Danny Glover’s shoes to play Murtaugh. (At 55, Wayans Sr. is actually older than Glover was at the time of the first film, so in that respect at least, he fits.) The Fast & Furious’ Jordana Brewster will also star.
McG (Terminator Salvation, Charlie’s Angels) is among the executive producers, and directed the pilot.
Those actors and McG - looks like a winner already.
I think I kinda like these two actors for the roles. But it's going to be hard to capture the feeling of the original Lethal Weapon films. I am not even sure what the feeling is, something between action flick with jokes ... and a looming sense of danger in spite of that. And the contrast of the two main chars. And Mel Gibson when he was still cool.
