Uh.... what? The PS3's catalogue of RPGs is awesome, with some spectacular titles that never came to PC. Same with 360, though that has fewer titles, but to say there's an enormous lack of RPGs is bizarre Neutral In no particular order;

etc.

Most of those are rather average and generic though and you got a few HD re-releases which I don't count. I bought the Tales of Xillia + Symphonia duo pack yesterday though and I did get Ni No Kuni although I paid quite a lot for it but the other best titles cost a small fortune - almost as much as buying it brand new.

It works!!!! Shocked Holy shit, it really and honestly and truly works! I loaded the game with CPU clock set to 1x standard, enabled GTE Precision and set in-game options to "max view distance" and "max viewing angle" (FOV slider in a 1997 console game? What sorcery is this!? Very Happy) and that automatically lowers "framerate" to lowest setting. In game looks good, nice VD with a nice FOV, but runs at 25fps. Increasing "framerate" slider to maximum automatically sets "view distance" and "viewing angle" to minimum. Game runs at 45-60fps but you can't see very much ahead of you due to culling.. and the FOV is substantially lowered also.

I then quit (because, sadly with ePSxe, most of the config options are locked when in play) and set CPU speed to 3x. Now the game runs at 60fps locked with "draw distance" and "viewing angle" set to maximum, even though "framerate" slider is set to minimum Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Enabling GTE widescreen in this game produces a lot of polygon popping, so it's best to leave it disabled.

CPU 1x + View Distance/Angle max

CPU 1x + Framerate Max

Now... CPU 3x + View Distance/Angle max

CAN I GET A "HELL YEAH!"!? 60fps G-Police with full view distance? Oh hellllll yeah! Okay.. I need to find more titles that ran poorly and see if the CPU OC option works for those too.

Regardless, getting the Win version to run on modern hardware is a PITA.

No, the point is this is the emulation thread and the conversation pertains to ePSXe and its latest functionality. I know you're really proud of your Windows, Mr Spencer, but it's getting seriously tiring. If you've nothing to contribute to the discussion; leave.

=)

Incidentally, there are still plenty of games that tie game logic to framerate, so increasing CPU speed causes... um.... fun times grinhurt

A game with viewing distance and fov sliders and thus variable frame rates? Wow. Well that has to be best game possible to test this with. Very Happy

Btw, does this really only overclock the cpu or is the gpu affected by it as well (perhaps even tied to it)?

Decided to give The Last Story another go since it was pretty much unplayable last time i tried.
Runs very well now in Ishiiruka Dolphin i get about 70-80 fps in DX 12 mode with the Speedhack (was a custom hacked version before but Tino just added it to Ishiiruka) using various shaders with SSAO,SSGI,Phong Lightning and so on.

Some screens:

Seriously it ridiculous how good Ishiiruka has become.

Is the game working without any bugs?

I remember trying it out a few years ago. And there were some problems in the first big city. I think it were massive problems with audio, which made me stop playing.

They also made some displacement mapping and stuff like that for it but im not using it since it's only for colony 9 atm:

Pretty good considering shit is still running in interpreter mode they should think about working on a jit recompiler soon since the emulator is kinda useless without one.

1.5.0 supposedly adds a brand new JIT recompiler, which brings substantial performance boosts. The emulator is getting more and more impressive Smile 1080p60 Xenoblade Chronicles X by 2018? ^_^

~edit~

I don't like posting these kinds of videos, but this kind of comparison really shows how much has changed so far this year. Scary amount of progress, not just in performance but also emulation quality.

Pikmin in Cemu 1.31 vs 1.50

MK8 in Cemu 1.33 vs 1.50

The only emulator that ever impressed me as much as this, was Chankast, and to this day I'm still absolutely convinced Chankast was "an inside job" -- it launched too perfectly out of the blue, playing too many commercial games without major issue. Now Cemu is making great strides too.

Oh and I know it's from 1.5.0, why wouldn't I? It says it right there in the video Troll Dad
