A bit disappointing story(the very last part). some loose ends(Samantha?).. some cliches and a somewhat dubious decision made right in the end. But setting and atmosphere are great..

yeah i didnt like the ending NOR the explanation.. it felt really really rushed, and i just didnt like how it was handled. also thought a lot of the stuff that happened during the game kinda went nowhere... i guess a lot of it is just flavour text, but it was interesting enough i wish it'd been developed...

overall, its really solid for an indie game, but i would LOVE for them to remake this game when they have more experience and money, because theres SO much good stuff here, and they're clearly a talented team.

oh and some of the game logic was just bananas..

the bit that stumped the hell out of me was

Hope the 2, 3... 8 guys that developed this will manage to get enough money through sales to develop a sequel/another game.

Despite all the minor issues, the game was just great.

In the credits I remember seeing at least 2 programmers listed.

Also, I was kinda referring to the whole team that worked on this.

There is a complaint, that a lot of the texts went nowhere.

Let me share my point of view on this: that's because a LOT of people made mistakes in the past year, being reckless, being greedy, being stupid. It all added up the the catastrophe, alongside madness. I found this part very realistic, and utterly cool. These texts were not plot devices, but parts of the setting.

I reached some animal cages or something, I can feel that the ending is near, I'm enjoying this game a lot! I'll try to finish it tomorrow. I love all the logs and emails, everyone is (not so) secretly hating everyone Laughing

Still I maintain that screenshots and gifs conceal the rather low production values which become evident once you play it and they not only affect the technical and presentational capabilities of the game but also make it feel too small scale.

Also pixel hunting is a HUGE problem in this game and sometimes when I move to a new screen I have no idea where my character is. It takes me like half a minute to carefully search all four corners of the screen to locate him.

i dont think its fair to call it low production values... i think theres some poor decision making in the choice to render it at 720p, but i think the visual concepts, AND the art design are pretty damn slick for an indie game of this size and scope.. i somehow doubt they had the same budget the trine 3 devs had (Very Happy) and i think this is one of the better looking indie games ive come across...

budget-restricted, sure... wonky decision-making, definitely... but i dont think its low production values because ive seen much worse, and much less, from many other similar titles.

Just finished it, enjoyed it through and through. Almost zero complains, they did a great job for what was probably a minuscule budget, and considering the three primary aspects of the game were done by the same guy.

Puzzles make sense and I didn't get stuck once, which is rare. They're not too easy but not too hard either. I like that the interactable stuff is highlighted, saves me a lot of pixel hunting, and potentially missing a important item, which is a serious annoyance in other adventure games.

Atmosphere is amazing, characters are great, story is great. Exploring the world and reading the PDA was a joy in itself. Would love to see more of this world.

Higher resolution backgrounds would be the only thing I found lacking, but then again I play Wadjet Eye games which are even lower resolution so it didn't truly bother me.

I took my time as I always do to complete the virtual journey(s), and this was definitely one hell of a remarkable, hellish experience. It's not easy to find an adventure game that manages to both evoke such a terrific atmosphere and at the same time nail the classic, timeless point and click gameplay, hats off. Smile
The formula doesn't reinvent any wheels, but it's damn competent at what it does. An absolute must for whoever likes the genre, but only if the playthrough doesn't involve rushing/not reading the PDAs, because that would be a crime that deserves some intimacy along with Samantha.

I found the puzzles surprisingly interesting and logical (mostly, there were some weird moments like Chiv mentioned that required t̶h̶i̶n̶k̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶o̶u̶t̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶b̶o̶x̶ randomly clicking all the things until it worked out xD) and even the story and characters themselves were engaging, except for the last minutes that felt rushed and not as satisfying as I hoped them to be. That's basically my only gripe, since the environments were so beautifully crafted that made me forget about their retro-friendly technicalities.
Easily a solid 8/10 game for me, hoping for an even darker and sexier sequel in the future! (in 1080p)

Thanks for the suggestion. Very Happy I actually have the game in my backlog (and Steam account), but the incredible amount of games released lately has been very distracting. Will play it for sure in the future. (Adventure games are timeless anyway Razz)

I loved this game, it's one of the best adventure games I've played this year (a great year for the genre btw). And because I loved it so much I tried my best to get an interview with the man behind the game.
In before LeoNatan comes after me Very Happy , here is an interview with Chris Bischoff:

Not long after the release of STASIS we began work on the DLC. Initially, the DLC itself was close to completion but we've decided to revisit it - to take on many of the comments and suggestions from players, and address them in the DLC.

This started as DLC but they revisited it, used a new engine (I think Unity) and implemented new tech for it and it will be released as standalone. But despite that, it's still of small scale, it will be only 1 chapter long.

The two biggest changes are that now the characters are 3D running on top of the 2D environments and that now the environments have normal mapping allowing better interaction with the lighting. They use shaders for some effects too.

Quote:
Hey Jim, it is a new story in the same world, but it is only a single chapter. We haven't decided on the release model, but it will not require STASIS to run.

Quote:
CAYNE will not be traditional DLC – you won’t need STASIS to play it. It’s also a self-contained story that ties back to STASIS without ruining the story.

Quote:
CAYNE is an entire new story, set in the same world and pertains to the STASIS story. It will be stand alone and much more advanced graphically. It would be the chapter promised to our gracious backers - so it will be a smaller story, not as massive as STASIS but a decent bit of play time.

They also say that this standalone content will be some sort of prototype for their next full-fledged game:
Quote:
We’re planning on crowd funding our next game and think that CAYNE will be a perfect example of what we intend on producing.

How high are the chances, that the base game will receive a high-resolution update too?

I guess not so high, as the backgrounds are probably fixed at 720p?
