Deus Ex meets Die Hard in Consortium: The Tower Sci-fi sequel raises over $170k in a day.
Quote:
So what is Consortium: The Tower, you ask? The developer described it as "the Deus Ex video game combined with the film Die Hard" as it takes the genre from the former and applies it to a single skyscraper setting more in line with the latter. It will also follow a hostage/terrorist plot. Sadly, there's no Bruce Willis yucking it up as a staunchly New York cop out of water.
Interdimensional Games has promised a pretty ambitious scope for Consortium: The Tower. The developer estimated that the first game would take five-to-seven hours to play through, but that you'd only see roughly 60-70 per cent of the content in a single go-round. The sequel promises to be roughly twice as large with less missable content to make up for its bigger scale.
Players can reserve a copy of Consortium: The Tower for $20. It's slated to arrive on PC, Mac, PS4 and Xbox One in Q1 2018.
surprised its doing so well on fig whzen it failed so hard on KS .... I guess we should thank BioWare's Greg Zeschuk ... good ... love the idea and first consortium was fine
@Bobita: FYI the pitch fig video is same one as the KS video Vryder posted at the top of the page
I didn't particularly enjoy the first Consortium (it felt like a rough prototype), but this one seems more interesting in the gameplay department. We shall see!
After a year of very intense production, iDGi has officially reached a major milestone: all core planned game mechanics for Consortium: The Tower are functional and working well together. In layman's terms, this just means that we now have a fully featured videogame with a hefty chunk of working content.
Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?
“9-15 months, depending on many factors, upon which the entire story will be released and the game will be brought out of Early Access.”
How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?
“Roughly one third to one half of the game’s final content is represented in our initial Early Access launch on Steam.
Choreography (lip syncing, facial animations and gestures) will be put in over the course of our time on Early Access, as scenes become finalized. Character animations and models are due to be vastly improved. The game's GUI will be given a major visual upgrade. In addition to the completion of the full interactive narrative, more characters, enemies, weapons and a ton more interactive dialogue is all among the remaining content we have planned for the game.”
What is the current state of the Early Access version?
“Core gameplay mechanics are all in and fully working as intended.
The main thing missing is choreography - this means facial/body, lip syncing, and conversation animations are still completely missing. This was a calculated decision on our part because once time and money are spent on choreo, those lines are done! It’s not cheap! Saving a choreo pass until later allows us to instead fully playtest the scenes, ensure they work as intended, and then we can cheaply and easily make changes as we see fit (changing and recording dialogue is faaaar easier/cheaper than choreo!).
There is, however, currently enough content for a minimum playtime of 6-7 hours. The included story content is designed to be a full introduction to the interactive narrative, and we have been careful to ensure the experience you can have now is hopefully fulfilling in and of itself.
Replay value is also unusually high for a game of this type”
To try and keep this update brief but informative, here's a quick bullet point list of important things we want to say:
We are zeroing in on finally reaching BETA for Act 1 of Consortium: The Tower. There are still issues to clear and a lot of work to be done, but the goal is clearly visible now.
This project is not cancelled. This project will NEVER be cancelled. We are just moving at our own pace to complete it. We deeply appreciate everyone's ongoing patience and support as we slowly but steadily work towards the finish line.
TO ALL FIG BACKERS READING THIS: Your version of the game will be getting updated very shortly. Also a new Fig update with a big surprise gift for all of you is coming! Watch for this to drop within the next two weeks...
We have two BIG surprises in store for all fans of iDGi and Consortium. There is also the previously mentioned secret feature for The Tower still coming. (currently only Fig backers have access to this...)
The new version of CONSORTIUM is on it's way to GOG and Humble. Those of you waiting for this, sorry for the delay! Watch for it early next week.
Just a heads up: Other than some new screenshots of in development stuff, we may be going a little dark again for the next few months or so, as we work away in our development caves on a number of things.
Nice and they're even working on a update and patches for the first game eventually having that over on Unreal Engine 4 too it seems. Good to see this getting closer to release though still a ways from full completion.
