i didnt bother installing the patch, because i dont have any of the issues that were "fixed". i will only patch, if they add 'disable catch-up' in career mode. fucking pisses me off when the fucking ai zooms past you like a bloody MIG

I agree that that catch-up is unnecessary bitch, but since you know its there it should not be that big of a problem. Make sure that you are never first until you need to be. That means that if you stay behind the first guy, and pass him on the lest quarter of the last lap you will not have any problems winning the race. It worked for me in career.

any1 got a fix for the intermittent pauses in this game while playing? all of a sudden my fps drops to like 4-5 from 30+ and then after about 1 min goes back up again. weird!

It's a driver issue, but going back to the 5.6 drivers solves it.

It's a driver issue, but going back to the 5.6 drivers solves it. |
It can also be because of the multi-processor/-core/hyperthreading bug.
While ingame, switch to windows, ctrl-alt-del, look for the process speed.exe, right click->affinity, deselect CPU1.
Should work fine now (found this on tweakguides.com)

nope not a driver or gpu problem but lack of finishing game & optimizing engine for pc as always cause game was made in a year wich left behind all important testing with new gpu's,EA just one greedy ass machine that wants only ca$$$h without interrupting "one game every year cycle"[well like most of the others who rushing games]

Yeah that can be it too, but if he has a ATI card, and mainly some older one, then switching to 5.6 will most likley fix the problem.
I had the exact same problem on my 9800pro, and a simple switch to 5.6 solved it completley.

had it also then reseted joypad axis [using logitech] & it all got to normal

Umm.. don't use a wheel for this game. The steering problem went away yes but it's impossible to drive because even a golf GTI is spinning all over the place because you had the audacity to steer in an opposite direction....

Yeah I've managed to get used to it too Pallebrun. It's strange because at first it was REALLY annoying. Weird!
I'm kind of enjoying this game really, it's probably the best I've ever played of the NFS series. Porsche Unleashed is clearly a classic (that I own retail ) but we all know that is a type of game that doesn't exist anymore.
This doesn't have that 'feel' or, well I don't know how to describe it but it doesn't feel like driving in NFSMW. But that's fine because I really enjoy the police chases and the large open maps. It's the first game of it's kind that's really captured me as opposed to just gaining my attention.
The cut scenes are really naff but it's intentional as if you do it cheesy and with a knowing smile you can't be caught out. It works because you know the messages it's trying to get across and because it doesn't take itself seriously you don't either.
