I played Dragonfall two weeks after release, no problems at all. Is this in a better state currently? If yes, I'll start playing it.

I'm playing a cyberware using melee samurai, I need some advice. How important is dodge and strength? I'll be investing heavily on body since I want to go the cyberware route, but would that mean I'll have enough HP to not care about dodging? Í'll be getting the best armor I can have obviously. Strength is important for damage I guees, but it doesn't seem to add that much. How mucb importance does it have for my char?
Last, I'm currently investing in pistols as a ranged weapon. Will all the points be wasted if I decide to use a whip later?

I played a fantastic dodging adept in DF. Awesome, but this time I'd like to play a "hi, meet my claw" samurai. It wouldn't be fun if I constantly had to heal myself though.
Is this whip something you get near endgame? If so, I doubt I'll use it. I hate engame weapons which require different skills.

As far as I can remember, I didn't see a whip until mid-game at least, BUT! If you put enough points into cyberware you may end up starting with a free one - since you get given the associated weapon (claws/whip) at the start if you have the skill.

Great game. I like the improvements, but I have two big problems with this iteration. Levels are tiny, much much smaller than DF. I only did 5 runs, so hopefully it'll improve fast. They overdid it with the amount of dialogue a bit. Sometimes I don't understand what the purpose of a dialogue was, some of it seems filler. I am someone who reads everything in an RPG, sometimes reading things and thinking "da fuck was that about?" is frustrating.
They also need to improve the engine, it's already getting stale for me. I'd really like to see technical and graphical enhancements.
Still a great game though, I wish this was a bigger studio so they could take a few years to make a masterpiece.

Hong Kong represents more of the same Shadowrun, which can be both a good and a bad thing. Much of the way the game is structured will feel very familiar to the veterans of the series, whereas for newcomers this title may be the perfect entry into the universe. Regardless of the somewhat repeated formula, what we have here is a fascinating new setting that features a very well-written and text-heavy story with strong characters and addictive gameplay. For those who want more Shadowrun and don't mind the absence of radical changes to the formula, there is no reason not to get Hong Kong. I have greatly enjoyed my time with it and look forward to the upcoming mini-campaign.

I feel like the game can't escape its tablets heritage and the gameplay has to suffer because of this. They have the writers and the graphic designers, but if Harebrained wants to continue with this series they have to make some serious changes in terms of gameplay complexity.

Hong Kong is the worst of the games IMO. The story and characters are uninteresting, the combat is very easy, the levels are tiny. It's still a 7.5 game, but it's also the last game I buy from HBS. The amount of useless dialogue and text is also idiotic.

I find it better than Returns at everything, HK even does some things better than Dragonfall. What bothers me is the off-putting amount of text, the small levels and the gameplay mechanics that are so restricted and lacking in complexity because the game still has that multiplatform skeleton.

Sounds like they decided to just make that DLC that was promised into a Director's Cut of the game. I hope they finally fix some of the technical issues they had as it seems they just stopped patching probably to finish up this version.

There was one annoying graphic bug that they never patched out before, I wonder if they will finally get it this time around.

Shadowrun Returns
Shadowrun: Dragonfall
Shadowrun: Dragonfall - Director's Cut
Shadowrun: Hong Kong
Shadowrun: Hong Kong - Extended Edition
__
New in Shadowrun: Hong Kong , thanks to our generous Kickstarter Backers:
| Quote: | 6+ hour bonus campaign - Shadows of Hong Kong.
100+ minutes of developer commentary audio!
Revamped Matrix art and gameplay!
Illustrated transition animatics that play at key moments in the story.
Enhanced sound, and dynamic combat music that ebbs and flows.
Rebuilt Inventory UI and easier management of items in-mission.
All-new Cyberware skill-tree and new Cyberweapons that can be installed to your character’s arms.
The ability to enter turn-based combat mode as soon as an enemy is in view.
Powerful new Foci objects for spellcasters. |
The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.

So on Steam did this Extended Edition become its own entry in the library or did the old Hong Kong version in your library just get renamed?

Can't start the bonus campaign as the game doesn't recognize my old saves. I downloaded a pack of saves from someone else and it doesn't recognize those either.
