In case there's someone who hasn't tried it yet, our Rinmen have the updated version + how-to. Very Happy

It's still rough around the edges (for the obvious reasons), but the fun factor is there, and it the visuals are definitely alluring which always helps. It runs without issues here on the 970, though I'm stuck at the 'peasant' 1080p (no new year's resolutions for me Sad Laughing)

The soundtrack – something that has always been the essential marinade of “future racers” – doesn’t have the heavy hitters of yesteryear, sadly. Fatboy Slim was featured on the OST of the first Rollcage, for instance, but there’s nobody with the same eye-catching popularity in GRIP’s lineup today. That’s not to say it won’t appease the deeper fans of trance and drum ‘n’ bass, just that it might lack some popular appeal.

Some of these observations might make me sound like I’m a little disappointed by GRIP. I am anything but that. It’s probably one of the most loyal remakes of any PlayStation 1 era game I have ever seen, while also eliminating some of the toe-stubbing annoyance of the original (although, not all of it – not yet). There were plenty of moments, where rockets went flying over my head, missing their mark, or I slipped through a narrow gap thanks to a last minute twitch, or I ill-advisedly shunted a foe into a narrow pipe that sent him catapulting into the lead. Each of these moments had me grinning like my 11-year-old self at the recreation – nay – the improvement of that forgotten 90s spawn. Rest assured, when the tournament and online modes are added, I will be back.

Got it now, tried a bit it's fun! Nothing serious, just pure fun, good music, sounds, cars look funky. I'd wish they'd slide a bit more.

Added a Create Tournament button which can be used in multiplayer games as well
Updated the garage with more customization and view options
New UI animations and effects

The 1.0 version (borrowed from the Codexian Yarrlands) appears to be in a good state, it is Rollcage's remake with the familiar formula, pleasant visuals and performance. The campaign is just as sterile as it was 20 years ago, not necessarily a bad thing though considering the yolo cringefests that most modern racing games offer these days. Razz

One difference that I noticed after having re-installed the original Rollcage the other day is that the handling in this new version is a 'softened' one, it's easier for instance to perform the signature spidercar anti-gravity moves and the vehicles feel more stable overall. There's good old rubberbanding as well, but in the Rollcagin' planets that's practically a feature.

The driving was noticeably trickier in earlier versions, but it also came at the cost of being a bit.. random, I don't know how to put it, but it felt unreliable. Most comments seemed to go in that direction, and to be honest it's better now than it was before, even if it came at the cost of removing some of the floatiness. Razz

Anti-gravity racing has just landed in the GRIP universe!

Oh yes, this update brings you 15 formidable new vehicles taken from those that you already know and love and fused them together with anti-gravity technology.

Carefully engineered to be strong competition against their ground-based brethren, these vehicles offer a fantastic new racing experience exclusive to GRIP. Not quite Rollcage, not quite Wipeout, but an amazing new hybrid that will set the whole genre on fire.

Head to the garage right now and grab yourself a new ride, then hit the races and slice through the air like never before. Ladies and gentlemen, we give you, AirBlades.
