Good... because I never could get into it. Always fired up classic UFO:EW(XCOM) instead.

Something always feels amiss with this one to me and I couldn't really see a reason why I shouldn't just stick with XCOM instead.
For people who can't deal witht he visuals of the original, yeah, I'd totally recommend this instead. Objectively, Xenonauts is a true re-imagining and does pretty much (almost) everything right.

I'm glad that a proper sequel is happening, there was a lot of talk in their forums with ideas and concepts, but nothing concrete...till now!
They've picked a ballsy time too for the announcement, in a 'hey I know that you're all excited for XCOM 2 - rightfully so- but guess who's back' xD
(In all seriousness, we're officially in the middle of a renaissance of the genre, which is awesome  ) |

Any online tutorials/guides/manuals recommended for a quick introduction to this game?

hover your mouse over things for tooltips
left click and right click on all ui objects do different things
the left slider is to save so much move points, generally don't use it

It's not as hard as many want you to believe to feel superior and bash on the newer XCOM games.
Just play it, take a close look at everything (it has tooltips I believe) and be prepared for more fiddly micromanagement.
Oh, maybe most important, plunder the corpses of your dead soldiers if they were equipped with something expensive.
