not if you unpack the archive and run setup. I'm assuming you are like me, just driver+ phsyx?

this is all you need then to install it. the rest of the folders can be deleted without side effects. no backend crapola this way. this is how i've been installing drivers for years now.

That's basically how I install AMD drivers as well, let the downloaded installer program unpack the files and then exit the installer, browse through the now unpacked folders for bundled programs and just delete what I don't want to have installed (Raptr primarily.) and then during actual install when starting that again there's no chance I'll miss unticking stuff I don't want added or at worst stuff AMD won't let you untick. oh well, it doesn't get installed anyway even with the update core folder left intact. good to know that folder isn't needed either. Smile

does the installer have missing graphics without the nvi2 folder or not though. I always left it thinking those are graphics files for the installer. Very Happy

Yup, that will have done it.

Now ManuelDerpG will be informing the Nvidia team as we speak, were doomed, and must install the GBloat Experience in all its entirety from now on.

Yep, release notes are up. Smile
http://us.download.nvidia.com/Windows/362.00/362.00-win10-win8-win7-winvista-desktop-release-notes.pdf

EDIT: No new SLI or 3D profiles with these drivers.
(Compared to 361.91, probably because both of these are on the same branch as I understood it so mostly minor tweaks despite the jump in version number from 361 to 362.)

EDIT: No changes to fixed or known issues either from what I can tell, so yeah probably just improvements for Gears of War DX12 and Far Cry Primal.
(Plus Dying Light with the PCSS update, that's PCSS as in the soft shadow technique, not PC-SS btw. )

yep, the idiots have been reeled in.

few samples of the guru3d IQ

it almost sounds as if they know what they are talking about.

This is the best method. Most issues arise from picking and choosing what to install. This is why the vast majority of users have little to no issues, but people who pretend to be power users and try to install light, seem to have the most niggling issues.

Install everything, and simply update instead of obsessively clean installing and using driver cleaners that do more harm than good and you will run into the least amount of issues. More often than not, if you have to do clean installs or use driver cleaners, you have screwed up your Windows install and should just start over by calling an adult before making the problems worse.

No, they have no idea what they're deleting, it just *appears* to be working fine for them, so they go ahead and keep doing it, without any valid proof that it's doing anything other than wasting your time deleting folders when you can just uncheck what you don't want.

Go install old tesla 271.xx driver and then be lound how colors chaned with those. And it happened with 3xx.xx a bunch of times - while geforce looked washed out and a little blurry (not always, so chill), quadro had better color and sharper look in those times (again, not always).

A bunch of good for nothing fun making clows

//so borring to read these driver threads lately...

Quote:

Yeah, and then the next version of the driver is looking for something which you've deleted which should've been installed, can't find it and reports that the installation failed. Then you go and create a post about it where everyone is suggesting using DDU and are saying how bad NV drivers are. So you delete some "crap" from the drivers and the cycle goes on.

There are no "crap" in the driver installer. Whatever it installs is necessary for the driver to function properly. The install options are presented in the install dialog, the rest is "utter nonsense".
