I'm mentally too active to sleep.

I swear to non-existing god of the Bible it's because I haven't had enough news and videos today (was out eating with family & friends).

This news/internet addiction of mine is quite bad, really.

Basically, I need to consume enough "stuff" for my brain or else I don't have anything to think about that might make me sleepy.

The more I think about something (news, videos, games, tv series, movies, ... whatever) the easier it is to fall asleep whilst doing that without even noticing when you crossed the line of reflecting about something and when you're already asleep / dreaming of something.

Halp! Sad

For me it's the opposite: The more i think about things, the harder it is to fall asleep.

What often helps me, is to watch something on TV (a series for example) where your brain has to work. For me for example that can be english dubbed series.

When i go to bed, i watch one 20min episode of Adventure Time or Futurama, and then one or two 10min episodes of Regular Show or Spongebob.

Goodnight.

Close your eyes in a preferably dark room with either static background or no noise at all. Lie so that one ear is covered by your pillow. Don't lie on your shoulder blade but on the front of your shoulder if you have to. Imagine your favorite fantasy setting. Put yourself into it. Try to imagine it as real as possible. Concentrate on the details of your surrounding and try to live your phantasy world. This works every time for me Smile

I can't sleep if my PC is not humming in the background Very Happy

If it's completely silent I go crazy trying to sleep heh
Heck, for reasons I can't explain, if there is a power outage or something during the night, I wake up cause my PC turns off. "WHAT IS THIS SILENCE?!", weird huh

I am so used to the quiet "white noise" generated by my PC, that I actually wake up if it suddenly goes silent in the middle of the night.

Pretty weird how we adapt to our surroundings and what things we pick up even when asleep. I have a similar reaction when someone starts opening the front door.

As for the subject at hand... If I can't sleep I don't fight it. Usually I just fire up some movie and watch it until I realise that I have been rewinding the last 10 seconds over and over because I kept dozing off by the end of that time span.
