|
 |
Hi all,
I am thinking about running for moderator in 2016 and I would like to know how that resonates with the active members.
This is not an actual and binding election, since that's not the process moderators are being picked!
By participating in this survey you are merely voicing your general acceptance or disagreement with the idea of me becoming a moderator.
You also get to provide reasoning for your decision (optional / voluntarily).
In other words, there is absolutely no guarantee that I will (or will not) become a moderator, no matter the outcome of this survey.
I also assume most active members know me from World News and The Useless Void.
However, if you don't know me at all and have specific questions about me or how I would handle NFO moderation, feel free to post a question.
Why am I running for moderator?
Well, I'm glad you asked:
- because the active moderation of NFO is in decline and I'm a very active member myself who can imagine offering his time and servitude to NFO for moderation.
- I know the "hotspots" which are potentially moderation-intense and I know what Subs are less subject to intervention or regulation.
- I am fair and balanced, valuing logic and reason. On issues, I will give people the benefit of doubt and on very difficult situations I will seek for a second-opinion (other moderators) before taking action.
- despite the general image of me being Bud Spencer / Grumpy cat like (unfriendly, unimpressed and grumpy), that's just a character I like to "play", but IRL I'm very sociable and nice. English comedy and Spencer-Hill movies have spoiled me into portraing the cynical narcissist (Blackadder style) or humble Bullybasher (Bud) - pick your poison.
- I will actively fight against NFO bigotry and moral decline without disrespecting freedom of speech or becoming authoritarian or even worse Orwellian (the indirect manipulation or policing of language to suit one's political agenda).
- the recent political developments have shown that the far right and the far left are actually closer to each other, than they're close to the center. Xenophobic bigotry and regressive leftivism have taken over our society, which also becomes apparent in NFO (mostly in World News). I intent to fight both extremes and expose the problems and bad arguments.
- I strongly support a non-authoritarian, free exchange of ideas based on mutual respect and reason, no matter what the actual views of the people are and how much other people might disagree, as long as those views are not illegal or against the board's own rules (which mean NFO-illegal).
- I cannot be bribed in any way shape or form.
- I will moderate with an iron fist and I will let no genre of music destroy me.
- most importantly I will likely be the most awesome moderator NFO has ever seen.

Aren't you back for like a month or so after you got banned for pming death threats to some members here?
If so, then it kinda feels like [Insert random dictator] came back alive and says, "Can i have another go at it? Vote for me please, vote for me"
No thanks
Empty again

Pax stays out of a topic = 95% less likely to escalate. I give you a clear no and vote for deportation on top of that. You should be only allowed to post in the Sports Bar and only once a day. case dismissed *clok clok*
edit: now that i thought more about it,i think the whole topic is bait so that you and some other, not named, person know which elements of the forum-userbase should be removed when you guys take over

No.
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

So Pax has 3 accounts?
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.)
